Whether you’re celebrating a relationship milestone, or it’s Tuesday; going on a romantic vacation with your significant other doesn’t really require an excuse. You can be at the upper hemisphere, wishing to get away from the exhausting heat, or at the lower hemisphere, looking for a partially lit location so you can quietly cuddle with your loved one. In reality, for a perfect vacation, all you need is each other. Romance is alive and kicking.

An Urban Romance

When the notion of a “quick getaway” comes up, most people picture a long weekend at an urban location. A few days of culture, delicious food, and all the romance you can create for yourselves.

Paris, France

City of light, city of love. So much has been written about this magnificent city; poets and artists of different kinds have been drawn to it. Take a stroll along the Seine River and climb to the top of the Eiffel Tower. With French food and pastries found literally everywhere, all that’s left is to find the best possible view to look at while you dine. Remember to visit the famed Notre-Dame de Paris (you might find Quasimodo), and the Louvre, the world’s most famous museum and an historic monument.

A known lovers’ attraction in Paris are the numerous “love-lock bridges.” Lovers engrave their names on a lock, then seal it to the bridge, and throw the key to the Seine River to signify their never-ending affection. This phenomenon is so well known that local authorities are now dealing with the overweight caused by the locks and the possible damage it can cause these bridges. Another lovers-must-see is the “I Love You” wall in Montmartre, which features these three magical words in most spoken languages.

Florence, Italy

Arguably, the Renaissance period was one of the most romantic ages in history. If you’re into that kind of art and architecture, Florence is probably the best destination for your next vacation. The Italian city has an astonishing cultural heritage, which makes it one of the most interesting and beautiful locations for art and history lovers; and, lovers in general.

Among the numerous masterpieces you’ll find in Florence, Michelangelo’s “David” sculpture undoubtedly stands out. A helpful tip: Skip the long ticket lines by purchasing the Firenze Card, which will grant you access to fascinating museums across the city, the card is valid for 72 hours from the moment you first use it.

Take a stroll in the beautiful garden of Giardini Boboli, an outdoor museum that features sculptures and native greenery. Also, if you like the city landscape, don’t miss the view at the top of the Dumo. It’s totally worth it. At the end of a long day, have a glass of wine at Piazzale Michelangelo, and watch the sunset (or, if you’re one to get up before everyone else, the sunrise).

Mykonos, Greece

A perfect combination of amazing beaches and an urban lifestyle. With the Greek island’s biggest attraction being its 16th century windmills, one can get the wrong impression regarding Mykonos, and think it might be a boring destination. The truth, however, is quite the opposite.

Welcome to Mykonos. This Mediterranean island is known for its amazing nightlife and stunning beaches. For the full Mykonos experience, go to the part of town called “Little Venice,” where you’ll find cafés and bars; all show the mesmerizing view of the colorful medieval architecture that decorates the island.

The Exotic Vacation

Romance is definitely at its best when it has the right background. And really, is there a better view than a colorful sunset while you and your significant other sit at a sandy beach somewhere across the globe?

Tap into the African rhythm and relax by the turquoise seaside. Zanzibar offers its visitors luxurious all inclusive resorts, which usually include a private beach and literally everything guests might need. One of the most romantic attractions in Zanzibar is a cruise during sunset. You’ve never seen a sunset such as this one.

The island of Zanzibar is very interesting and offers a unique cultural experience. Take in the full adventure and wander around the island, visit the spice farms, and meet the locals. With this in mind, you should remember that Zanzibar is predominately Muslim, which means that you should dress conservatively when you leave the resort you’re stating in.

Those who like to explore new grounds can swim with dolphins; you might even catch a glimpse at bottlenose and humpback dolphins. In addition, you can scuba-dive and snorkel at the coral reef. Last, but definitely not least – enjoy a relaxing day (or your entire stay; we won’t judge) at the beach.

The Philippines

A trip to the Philippines can often seem as a journey back in time. The Asian country is full of natural and historical wonders, just waiting to be explored. When you get to Manila, be sure to catch a walking tour around the city, the capital’s charm will captivate you forever. When night falls, have a drink at a nice rooftop bar, you might be lucky enough to catch the fireworks spectacle, which runs every Saturday evening in the vicinity of Mall of Asia.

Nature lovers can hike and trek the numerous trails the Philippines has to offer; one recommended opportunity is the one day hike of Mt. Gulugod Baboy in Mabini, where you’ll see the entire island and its beautiful green hills. Speaking of nature, in the Philippines you’ll find some of the world’s most beautiful beaches. Such example is El Nido beach in Palawan, its crystal-clear water and surrounding cliffs will fill your heart with joy.

History and architecture lovers will be fascinated by Vigan City, a UNESCO-listed heritage city and one of the New 7 Wonders Cities. In Vigan City you’ll truly go back in time, to the Spanish colonial period and witness the influences it has until this day.

This tiny Dutch Caribbean island located just off the coast of Venezuela has white sandy beaches, amazing weather throughout the year and flamingos roaming free. Seriously, what else do need?

Enjoy a glass of wine and watch the colorful sunset at THE most romantic hotspot in the island according to locals – the lighthouse (hey, if the locals love it, who are we to suggest alternatives?). Let the cool breeze carry away any undesirable thought that might bother you and take a long walk on the beach, right where the water meets the land, and try not to bump into a pink flamingo while you walk.

What’s the deal with the flamingos you ask? Well, the Renaissance Resort Hotel has its own private island where pink flamingos and iguanas roam free. Don’t worry, even if you’re not a guest at the resort, you can still visit the island by purchasing a day pass.

The volcanic archipelago is made out of eight main islands; each offers its own unique experiences and activities. However, they all share the rugged landscape of cliffs, marvelous waterfalls, and tropical greenery. In Hawaii you’ll find some of the world’s most beautiful beaches, not solely due to their mesmerizing waters and beautiful horizon, but because the land contains colorful sands such as gold, red, black and even green sands.
