The Den and the Glen (formerly known as Storybook Glen) is a children's park in Maryculter, Scotland, near the city of Aberdeen. It is best known for its disformed and off-looking models of various fairytale characters, as well as some more modern characters such as Shrek and Postman Pat. The most well known statue is of Barney The Dinosaur, which became an internet meme through an image with the caption "cha cha real smooth". It has been rated a 4-star visitor attraction by the Scottish Tourist Board.

We visited the glen with our family. The kids loved the Glen although it seemed a tad cheeky to charge adults to look at the exhibits. The park is packed full of well known characters although some could benefit from a lick of paint. They have a sign saying that getting in the den is free with the Glen although this is subject to space. After walking the Glen today the den was full and we couldn't get a coffee while we waited. This seems like a missed business opportunity plus we left with unhappy and hungry children. The lady on the entrance was grumpy and a bit rude. It's a shame as she was our first, last and only experience of their staff! 😔

Soft play in the Den combined with an outdoor walk in the Glen where there is much to see and do. My daughter loved it. There is a great cafe with ample seating and choice. Great food delivered. You pay for access to the Glen experience (£3.95 for adults as of 8th June 2018). The softplay is free if you pay for the Glen. There is a 90minute limit in the Den (softplay) when things get very busy in school holidays and at weekends.

Lovely park. Well kept. Lots of shelters for the rain too. The kids always love to go there.

I was there for a birthday party and would definitely recommend having parties there for little ones. There are 2 areas, the outdoor which I was told are featured according to fairy tales but I have not checked that out yet. When I checked that out next time, I will add my honest review here again. The indoor area has a large soft play. There is also a cafe inside with a selection of hot food, snacks and drinks too. You would normally associate soft play for the little ones under 7 years old but there were children ages 8-10 who seemed really happy playing there too including one of my child. There were different areas suitable for the very little ones (babies) and toddler areas so they are safe from the energetic young children.

I spend time one every 2 to 3 weeks with my 5 year old. The outdoor park is great in the summer. The Indoor play area is great and it always has other kids for my son to play with. Food reasonable. Well worth the visit.
