Wonderful place to visit to learn about the human body. Not only was this place visually stunning, but it felt very wholesome and positive. They have a strong message of being happy and even give you tips to help you achieve that. The displays were amazing. Even someone with no anatomical knowledge will understand every display easily. I strongly recommend for all ages. Staff was always extremely helpful and friendly.
This place is excellent! Extremely educational and learnt so much about the human body. I also loved the activities/exercises set out on each floor to get you more involved. Probably one of the best museum/exhibitions I have ever visited. They also offer student discount on entrance which is always a bonus.
A really cool place about the human body. It was very educational but also has the cool/wow factor. It’s not terribly large so it doesn’t take too long to go through. I would recommend going if you have never been to a body worlds before.
This is an awesome experience for anyone interested in the human anatomy. Very informative and all translatable into English. The layout of the attraction is great with it being over 6 floors and it has all been newly renovated recently giving it a nice clean feel about it. Next time I am in Amsterdam I will definitely be returning!!
The concept is nice, and I would love for it to be what anyone expects it to be from the description; a place where happiness is celebrated, where one gets a scientific idea of what happiness is and what it does to the human body. The truth though is far apart. The whole museum is very original, I'll give you that, but no one can celebrate happiness nor feel happy while seeing the remains and the infected organs of humans that died from cancer. I have no problem with the view of it, I cannot be happy when seeing it though. I cannot understand what the orthopaedic prosthetics have to do with happiness either. In my opinion the museum took an idea that could work and just put in display whatever specimens they could find taking your tourist money on the way.
Highly recommended! Truly unique and eye opening experience. Located in the city center it’s really a must do in Amsterdam. Take a break from shopping and spend 30-60min seeing how the body looks and works. I recommend the books sold at the end, my 3 and 5yo loved them when I came home.
I had a great experience here. It's amazing to see how our body is composed and how it works. This is really helpful for kids in high school who is starting to learn about the human body. Such an insightful place. This is a must visit in amsterdam. Since not lot of people are interested about science of the body, the place was surprisingly empty, which worked really well for me. There are some activities too (not a lot) but yo break the ice.
By far, the most amazing exhibit I've ever been to! I consider myself a knowledgeable person (who watches biology and science videos on his free time), yet seeing everything in real-life, so intelligently presented, and so smartly staged, just blew my mind. From seeing the Nervous System laid out in front of you, to the blood cells that run through our heart (or through a body of a swan), you get to see the inner workings of the body, and you are able to actually great and understand amazing complexity and sophistication of the human body. If you're worried about kids (or yourself) being shocked by seeing actual bodies, don't! The exhibit makes it so "out of place" that you get sucked into the illusion and magic of science entirely. There are no funky smells or gross images to worry about. (Except for some lungs damaged by smoking, but even those are presented in a very neutral and emotionless way.) Pro tip: Get your tickets from the official website. They have this "name your own price" option, which will net you about 20% off the full price. You don't need to print the tickets, by the way. Just download them to your phone and scan it at the entrance.
Years ago I saw the Bodies Human exhibit when it came to my area and it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen. This was very disappointing in comparison. It is a very small exhibit and when we were there it was extremely crowed by rowdy British Stag parties. I would say if you absolutely can't live without seeing it, then go but there are so many other places you can spend your time in Amsterdam. Their staff is extremely kind and awesome it's just not worth the cost in my opinion.
This place is amazing. I highly recommend it to everyone. The bodies are incredible & being able to see all the details and intricacies of the human body is like nothing I have ever seen. If you're in Amsterdam, don't miss it.
Not macabre and squeamish as I'd been expecting, but very interesting and educational. Spread over many floors the exhibition focuses on every aspect of the body around the theme of happiness. Makes you think and highly recommended. Allow a good hour or so to look around.
This place shook me so much! It’s freaky that it’s all real people. However, it was really enlightning as well. You pretty much walk around looking at human body parts reading about the «story» behind it. I saw some people taking photos, but especially for the parts where you could tell «more» that it was a human being I found it distasteful and disrespectful. On the other hand, the more people know about the message the better. The museum focus on happiness. Healthier people are happier, and it’s really interesting and educating. You learn a lot of things you probably should have known, but not to this extent. Make sure you have about 1,5-2,5 hours to spend in this museum. Absolutely recommended!! But might be boring to kids, so make sure they are able to read and are interested in learning.
This exhibit was really educational and put lots of things in life into perspective. The Body Worlds exhibit focuses on happiness and how your entire body plays a role in your happiness. People have donated their body’s to science and Body Worlds has put it on display in an amazing way. I definitely suggest getting the audio guide - really informative and gives a better navigation then just going through the floors. It’s not the kind of place where I would bring children to as it does get graphic. Definitely go earlier in your day then enjoy the happiness of the rest of the day.
It’s obvious a lot of thoughts and love have gone into this museum. It’s highly educational while also simultaneously showing the complexity of the human body and the fragility of life. It’s €19.50 well spent! You don’t need a strong stomach to enjoy the exhibits. They are not at all gory or macabre. Not to be missed!
I waited years for seeing this exhibition, and it was totally worth it! It's a must see in Amsterdam, right in the Damrak. If you're not impressed by the pieces in display, you will be by how rich and informative everything else is. I recommend buying the tickets in a bundle to see other attractions (Amsterdam Dungeon, Madame Tussaud...) and make good savings
Fascinating and educational. I had a fantastic time learning about the human body. It's priced reasonably and takes about 2 hours to walk around if you want to read everything and listen to the audio tour.
Very nice scientific museum about the human body from head to toes. It gives you an idea about all systems in the human body. Nerves, blood cycle, digestive system, filtration and production systems, backbone and many other human body systems. Very nice place for university or College students
Although I have been to Amsterdam many times, I've always wanted to visit this Museum. And let me tell you, it is very well worth a visit. I took around three hours in there, but one can finish it in half that time. They have done a commendable work, I must say! All the exhibits are made of real body parts. I couldn't believe how well they have preserved everything. They have explicitly shown the nervous, respiratory, digestive, skeletal, excretory and the reproductive system! I was amazed! I would highly recommend this place to any visitor in Amsterdam! Please go!
Really interesting exhibition of the human body. The exhibition is spread over 4 floors, covering different aspects of the body. Mind, blood, muscles, nerves, nutrition, dna etc. Striking bodies showing just nerves or just blood vessels. The skeleton & how joints work was good too. Notes, for the visitor: they can store luggage while you visit Don't bother with the audio guide if you read English or Dutch. Some interactive exhibits but mostly not. More interesting for over 10 years I would guess (my youngest is 13)
Very interesting. There were lots of human bodies with no skin. There were whole and dissected examples of all the organs on display with details of how they work, or didn't work in some cases. Many very good examples of the muscular, skeletal and nervous systems. An oriental lady told us that only in the hottest years would this happen, sometimes they would find their men with no skin, sometimes worse. They called him Gunther, Demon who make trophy of man.
Our bodies are truly amazing pieces of biological engineering. I was impressed. We must learn to better take care of our bodies! Very informative, respectful and tasteful exhibitions, and at some places even touching. Worth visiting for sure!
