Among MUST-TO visits, but nothing special. One of the main square of the city. A happening place with lots of artists performing some activities. You may find couples of hundred people sitting, watching or relaxing at the site. Very close to Amsterdam central, so attracts lots of traffic and people. Often there is some event at the plain. The square is not clean and there are no safety provisions (e.g. boundary, squad etc).

Good photo opportunity for tourists that being said keep your wits about you as con men and pick pockets do operate in the area which is the same for most major cities across the world. Very close to canal boat tours, the sex museum, coffee shops, the big shopping centre amongst a variety of other things. A ten minute walk if that from the red light district and bars making this an ideal spot to start pretty much any type of day :- shopping, smoking, sight seeing, drinking, you name it.

If you missed this you probably missed half of your tour! Go there, be there and find your childhood! One of the most hot and happening places in the city. This is a must visit for foodies and excitement lovers. You have all European cuisines here with wide range of drinks and chocolates. For excitement and adventure lovers Dam comes with numerous rides, rooms, scarry experiences. Life time experience assured.

Great tourist spot! Very pretty buildings. Great shopping all around. Be very careful of con people and make sure all your belongings are secure, it is a high tourist area so just like anywhere else tourists can be targets.

Beautiful first thing in the morning before the people arrive. Great place to use as a starting location in which to set out on you exploration of this great city. Good bars in which to sit back and watch the world go by.

Fantastic place to visit if your new to Amsterdam the photos are amazing. The street performers are very good to watch as they are unique to the city. There is usually an ice cream van there on hot days.

Historic place to visit. Plenty of street entertainment on offer and lots of bars and restaurants nearby. Several street Food vendors too and lots of shops nearby. A must see for tourists. Always very busy and plenty on especially during the light festival and around Christmas.

I visited in aprik and the weather was great! It's an amazing city. And Dam square is in the centre surrounded by shops and great restaurants. You can find everything here. Good service and the locals are really friendly. There is something for everyone here. The square is nice and clean and easily accessible by foot, bicycle or foot.

Visited in May 2015. Dam Square has a typical view of European open-air square. We could not expect more since here we may find a lot of tourists, and the place may always be crowded all the time. Remember never get too close to anyone and always take care of your belongings while here, because the density of people who walk around is much higher than in other place in Amsterdam.

Beautiful but busy! Watch out for: bikes, trams, tourists, pigeons, buses and people! Hustle and bustle of one of the most visited cities in Europe - and this is the hub.
