The Museumplein (Dutch pronunciation: [myˌzeːjʏmˈplɛin]; English: Museum Square) is a public space in the Museumkwartier neighbourhood of the Amsterdam-Zuid borough in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Located at the Museumplein are three major museums – the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, and Stedelijk Museum – and the concert hall Concertgebouw.
The area was originally a wax candle factory and marshy meadows. Construction began following the completion of the Rijksmuseum in 1885, with a street plan based on the design of Pierre Cuypers, the museum's celebrated architect. The area was the location of the International Colonial and Export Exhibition in 1883.
Too much crowd during the day (so plan early in the morning)... difficult to cover all the letters of the sign... There is even a sofa with the letters...The waffles and the ice-cream in the nearby shops are very good. Great place for people watching...

The surrounding area is really scenic and worth a stroll on a sunny day. The sign itself is, well, a giant sign. I'd recommend turning up early if you want a quiet picture. By lunchtime people were swarming over the top of it making it impossible to take a clear picture but still worthwhile.

Cool sign, but IMPOSSIBLE to photograph whole! Always covered in people, so don't expect a wonderful solo picture. More fun when the word has your initial in it. Very cool to see, but not worth a trip alone. Go to the museum if you come to visit the sign!

Beautiful landmark....however very busy place as everybody is trying to take pictures with it. Make sure that you go during the day to get best pictures but quite impossible to get the full picture of the sign and you being still visible in the photo. 😋

Who doesn't want to come here, if in Amsterdam. The sign is great but too crowded. It is nearly impossible to photograph it fully and also solo as it too crowded. Be aware of pick pockets. Nice food stalls around and Van Gough is in walking distance.

Too crowded and not worth the hype. There is an ice skating ring next to it which seemed fun. However nice cafe nearby and you can enjoy the overall Amsterdam feel if weather permits. There are a bunch of souvenir shops next to it if you want to buy something for your friends back home

I don't know if I can rate a sign much more than 3 stars. For a sign its a 5 star sign but still it's a sign. Its not the 9th wonder of the world. Its nothing that will change your life but its cool and its fun for a sign. Go and jump on top or inside a letter. Have some fun.

Cool sign. Waaaay too many people to get a picture worth taking. Don't recommend going, wasn't worth the walk from Central station. Time would have been better spent seeing cooler things in the city.

If your coming here expecting the perfect photo by the sign either by yourself or with friends its not going to happen. Sign is always exteamly crowded with everyone trying to get their photo and unless you go really early i the morning (which even then some people may still be there with the same idea) then expect to share your photo with 30+ people. Cool sign though.

This sign gets more action than the girls in the Red Light District. It's hard to get a good shot up close because EVERYONE is trying to get their pictures and selfies. You're better off going out closer to the park with a zoom.

A very good tourist spot, quite crowded, but what to expect at a famous city tourist spot. It is good to visit in summers when you can enjoy the sunny weather at the park nearby. The backdrop of the sign is the museum, which gives a good background for the photos you take. Do visit this place, have fun!!

Quintessential Tourist Hotspot of Amsterdam. During the summer it gets extremely crowded and its hard to get a clean picture of it so it pays to get in early. If you are in the area, its worth while to check out.

Way too crowded for my taste. If you truly need your picture by the sign I'd suggest going extremely early, especially in the summertime when the place is crawling with tourists climbing the sign and trying to get their picture just right. The wide open space is perfect for relaxing by the water or under the shade of a tree in between museum visits!

It's a very good tourist spot in Amsterdam . Easily reachable using tram transportation. Only thing is , it will be very much crowded and good time to visit this place is bit early in the morning before 9am. Surrounding this we have other places as well to see. You can take lot of photos in this "I Amsterdam Sign" and can almost spent near to 1 hour in near by places as well. It depends on personal interest as well.

Extremely popular spot with big crowds in the afternoon. If you want a photo of the sign then it's best to go early in the day - otherwise you can just see the tops of the letters over the crowds! There are a couple nice little kiosk cafes overlook the sign which are good for breakfast.

I must say that there was so much people that you have to decide if you want a picture with you and the whole sign. Be ready to share the spotlight with a few folks who are equally so inclined. It was nice to see so many people have a good time. The vibes was great.
