San Francisco el Grande is a church in Antigua Guatemala, Guatemala and one of the most frequented sanctuaries by the local population because of the shrine of Peter of Saint Joseph Betancur (Santo Hermano Pedro).

Great place to explore and walk the grounds of an old church and ruins. There is a small entrance fee, but it is not too expensive and well worth the price.
Absolutely worth visiting. Pilgrimage for locals, as the tomb of Hno Pedro is located here. Restored last century. When in ruins, served as a backdrop to a Tarzan movie produced by Hollywood.
If I were to suggest a Church to visit in Antigua this is a must see on your Bucket List. Peter of Saint Joseph Betancur (Santo Hermano Pedro) is how the church was named. for the Saint. The church is Massive on some damage from Earth Quakes and time. Ass Wednesday is a must visit time in the Church, no matter your religious interests the event is amazing. Outside of the Church are what is called The Stations of The Cross which is a pleasant walk to Santa Ana for the final station. My top Church in Antigua.
Excellent church complex, near the museum and the ruins after which you can walk.

Historic place. A lot of stories about the Brother Peter (hermano Pedro).
