The Nicholas P. Goulandris Foundation - Museum of Cycladic Art is a museum of Athens. It houses a notable collection of artifacts of Cycladic art.
The museum was founded in 1986 in order to house the collection of Cycladic and Ancient Greek art belonging to Nicholas and Dolly Goulandris. Starting in the early 1960s, the couple collected Greek antiquities, with special interest in the prehistoric art from the Cyclades islands of the Aegean Sea. The Museum's main building, erected in the centre of Athens in 1985, was designed by the Greek architect Ioannis Vikelas. In 1991, the Museum acquired a new wing, the neo-classical Stathatos Mansion at the corner of Vassilissis Sofias Avenue and Herodotou Street.
One of the best choices to visit when in Athens. A unique collection of Cycladic art in addition to a number of exhibitions taking place around the year and outside the permanent one. Great place also to have a light snack. Nice kids programmes and a handful of nicely curated objects on the museum's gift shop.

An Athenian gem! One of the best musea I have ever seen. Not on the beaten track of the tourist must-see places in Athens. Therefor pretty quiet which is so appropriate when you admire, inspect er even worship (!) these solemn statues. Suddenly Athenian bustling traffic has disappeared and you find yourself in a mysterious world of tranquility and peace.

Really good exhibits on four floors, plus a temporary exhibit on ground floor. Super classy place, seems to have a nice restaurant or cafe. Has a coat and bag check. The main museum and temp exhibit are separate fees, but both were great. Includes a video on final floor - lots to read here, plan for 2 hours or more

I only visited the café. Excellent service and nice quiet atmosphere. Dishes seemed interesting but I didn't taste any of them. Just a typical museum café. Smoking was not allowed inside.

This museum is gem. Not to be missed. Beautifully curated and displayed. The cafe is very nice with view of garden.

As a museologist I would highly recommend this museum. Not only because of its rich permanent collection, but because of the stunning display, amazing temporary exhibitions and it s super cozy cafe. If you have more time to spend in Athens, then the educational programs offered by the museum (mostly in weekends) are totally worth it for the entire family. check my exhibition reviews #critiqueasamuseumgeek

Very interesting and complete museum. Interesting temporary exhibitions on ground floor. A little difficult to find. Enjoyed it very much.

Well laid out, it takes one on a nice progression of history of Greek culture with some very fine pottery examples.

Me and my friend really liked this museum. It was particularly enjoyable because the plaques and descriptions did not reference the plethora of ancient Greek names and places. It was also free for us as either students or under 18 years (not sure which it was). We did not see the temporary exhibit of the American artist due to the museum closing, which was disappointing. It's also close to some nice restaurants.

Beautiful and very well organized museum. Start from the top, where an interesting exhibition about life in ancient times. Then go down to see many wonderful artworks. Cafeteria is quite good (but not cheap). 3 hrs at least

A very beautiful, well organised museum. Permanent exhibitions and temporary ones are held throughout the year together with very nice educational programs for every age. Plus a nice shop and caffe for chilling aftering wandering around the floors.

We decided to go after having discovered those amazing sculptures at the Paul Getty Villa in Santa Monica. Great little museum, excellent display of artefacts, informative explanations and nice cosy café.
