Georgia Aquarium is a public aquarium in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. It exhibits hundreds of species and thousands of animals across its seven major galleries, all of which reside in more than 11Â million US gallons (42,000Â m3) of water. It was the largest aquarium in the world from its opening in 2005 until 2012 when it was surpassed by the S.E.A. Aquarium in Singapore and the Chimelong Ocean Kingdom in China; the Georgia Aquarium remains the largest aquarium in the United States and the third largest in the world.
A $250 million donation from the foundation of local businessmen and The Home Depot co-founder Bernard Marcus provided the bulk of the funding needed to build and stock the new facility.
This is the world's most magical aquarium. Awesome place with thousands of animals, fish, dolphin, whales and much more. The whale sharks and mantas are impressive to see. The dolphin show left us with a huge grin on our face. Such a joy to see those animals. The Beluga looked so peaceful. The blue while are so beautiful, very recommended to stop if you are visiting Atlanta. This is a great family outing adventure. Not too expensive either.

This place is nothing short of amazing! It is a huge aquarium with so much to see. They have shows where they talk about the fish/sharks in the giant aquarium tanks which is very informative. Their whale sharks are massive and a must see! There is a section where you are on a motor belt that brings you through one of the big aquarium tanks that goes above your head and on both sides of you, for stunning views. Not having to walk through it yourself, makes it easier to really take in the views. This is by far the best aquarium I have ever been to, and my family is in the fish-food business so we've seen quite a few!!

We had a fun time visiting the Georgia aquarium. They have several different themed exhibits (cold water, coral reef, dolphins, Amazon river, etc.) all of which are nice. Many separate small tanks and a few very large ones. They had everything from baby shrimp to whale sharks. For the 4d theater we would recommend sitting as central as possible. Very popular family destination, but we also enjoyed it as adults (they do serve adult beverages as well).
Paul and Lillian BrunsFeb 18, 2018
One of the biggest and best aquariums I've been to. Definitely rivaled the one in monetary CA. The staff was informative and friendly, and always available when we had a question. There were so many exhibits and fun interactive activities it was hard to get them all done in a day. I will definitely be coming back to try and see everything I missed. You won't be disappointed unless you hate having a great time.

Truly amazing. If you haven't gone, GO! Huge exhibits, amazing fish, funded by a truly awesome man! Whale sharks! My kid really liked the sea lion show which was well worth it. A year membership is only twice the price of a day pass and gets you a discount on parking. It is totally worth it! It gets a bit more crowded around noon, but if you get there early it is nearly vacant. Amazing, amazing, amazing!

This place is AMAZING! Such a diversity of animals and habitats! The ocean one with the large display was amazing. The 4-D Sharks movie was really cool. All the animals looked healthy and like there was plenty of room for them. My only hesitation from giving it five stars is the layout. I thought that it seemed very congested. The staff was so informative and patient. You can tell the people there love their jobs!

This is the BEST aquarium I have ever been to. It has an incredible variety of animals and exhibits, and several hands-on learning areas that are great for kids and adults alike. We are frequent visitors, but there is always something new to see or learn. Our favorite exhibit is Deep Sea Voyager - it’s an incredible view of the whale shark, rays, and a multitude of interesting fish. Food is pricey, but we typically eat before we go, so it’s not such a big deal. Highly recommend going at least once!
Alexis WernerApr 1, 2018
Incredible is the only word. Great for kids and adults alike. Seeing a whale shark in captivity is incredible. I recommend doing the dolphin show. If you’re going for a date night or a quick trip I recommend going for the discounted late night tickets. Younger crowd won’t take as long as a family might and can get through the aquarium in 2-3 hours.
Angelo CameloMar 19, 2018
Man, this place was awesome. My daughter loves everything water-related, especially sea life. I love it too, to be honest. We saw the dolphin show, and my only wish was that there was more organization for entry and exit. Food was pricy, but that's the tourism business. The exhibits were really informative but also very visually pleasing. Highly recommend visiting. It's quite the experience. (But maybe try visiting during the week.)

We love the Aquarium! There is something enchanting about walking through spaces where the tanks are on the ceiling. It allows you to feel as if you're joining the creatures of the deep on the ocean floor. There are both fresh and salt water fish here. The kids could watch the penguins for hours as there is a crawl space that allows them to see the birds up close. It is my goal to inspire my children as stewards of the planet they live on. This place has so many lessons to offer about why we need to protect our oceans and how they protect us.

Its just ONE of the most fascinating experienced EVER! It's an absolute must do when you make it into Atlanta Georgia. There is so many amazing animals and activities to enjoy the dolphin show and so much more while you're there. It also sits next to the Coca-Cola that you can tour and there's a lot of difference places to shop and just have a wonderful family experience while you are visiting in Atlanta Georgia. The first time we went my great nephew was just walking and it was so much fun to watch his facial expressions with all the different aquatic animals and shows and as you're leaving a must-do is coming through their gift shops it's very reasonable as far as price and I know that they also offer seasonal I hope you enjoy it as much as my family and I did you'll have a blast the bottom line priceless

I cannot express to you how much fun I had at the aquarium. I suggest doing the 3 Way pass on Groupon that takes you to the Civil Rights Museum, the Coca-Cola factory, and the aquarium just to have a full day of nothing but fun. The aquarium is a very large place but everything is accessible through either stairs or an elevator. I would suggest looking at the aquarium map before fully diving into the aquarium to get an idea of where you want to go and win. I suggest going to the petting part of the aquarium first to get tickets and to make sure they are not sold out, unfortunately we didn't follow this information and were unable to pet the Penguins. But it was all good the day was filled with a lot of other amazing interactive activities. The staff is extremely friendly as well. Though I went during spring break and it was 100% hectic, the staff kept a great smile on their face and very kind. Before you go into the aquarium you will be given the option to take pictures I suggest taking a few and buying the $40 pack first before going through the whole aquarium as well. This way you don't have to deal with everyone trying to buy their photos while they're leaving and stuck in a huge line. Wheelchairs are available inside but you must give a photo ID to take it out. The gift shop is amazing and there are two, one near the food and one by the exit. I went to the one by the exit since it was larger and a little less hectic

Loved it, but it lacked a direction. Enjoyed 4d shark show and sponge Bob. Sea lions were great, no pics allowed. The tank where the whale sharks are is great... Wish was bigger... Filled up in there and people don't seem to know what personal space is or the words excuse me. It was 30$ for one pic but you pay 40$ and u get all of them and a book... Didn't go for it. Overall I really enjoyed it. And get the cross Atlanta off bucket list.

Amazing place. Been here twice. You need to go on a week day to avail major crows. All the tanks are so huge and the fishes are amazing. The whale shark take you can spend hours watching it. We always have lunch watching the beluga whales at the ballroom which is a great place when you have kids. Would definitely go there again every year.

The Georgia Aquarium is a very great place to go especially if you like underwater aquatic animals. They have a lot of great shows you can go to the specially they have dolphin shows which I had a really great time seeing. This place is great for little kids teenagers and generally anybody who likes aquariums. They have really cool tanks and other stuff and things that you can touch here. It's a great experience to go and I hope you would consider going here and the place around in Atlanta is actually a really convenient place they have other great places you can go. They also have some food places within the court and some shows and there's a bunch of other things. I hope you consider going here. I've been here many times and I still have fun every time I go.

Amazing! This is one of the best aquariums I have visited within the United states. Located downtown Atlanta next to other sites like the Coca-Cola plant and the park. Many nearby hotels within walking distance. Set up into different water environments. Hosts many different species including dolphins, seal, sea lions, beluga whales, and tropical fish. And as if that wasn't enough wonder, the main event here is the amazing deep ocean view that includes the gigantic whale sharks (of which they have 4), sharks, large manta rays, huge groupers, and a sea turtle. Also, the shows are wonderful, and you will get wet if you sit up front. Fun 4d movies. Great gift shop. Food is good at expected prices. Easy to see it all in a half day. But we went through each area several times and saw the dolphin show twice. Each show was surprisingly different.
Stacey SmallwoodMay 6, 2018
This is a magnificent aquarium, from the huge ocean pool holding multiple whale sharks, to the more intimate displays of riparian environs and small coral reefs. There are live diver shows in the main tank, movies highlighting aquatic life, dolphin shows, a cafeteria - plenty of attractions to spend multiple hours here. The entry fee can seem a little steep, but for a world class facility like this it is totally worth it! You can save a few bucks, and a wait in line, by purchasing your tickets online, and printing them before you get to the aquarium.
Matt RobertsonJun 5, 2018
This is a great place especially for younger children. The is a lot of knowledge with some of the staff. For the most part it's pretty clean especially given how many people visit daily. As with all theme park like places the food is expensive for what it is. Parking is $12 if any spaces are available. Plan your visit here for the morning and then get done by lunch and go out to eat somewhere worth while.

Best Aquarium i have ever visited till today. I love the big tunnel to walk under where whales were above it. Second cool thing was to seat in front of the big glass wall tank full of aquatic life. All of their exhibits are well thought. The dolphin show and the sea lion show were also wonderful to watch. It's a worth visit place for some unique experiences.

What a wonderful place to see aquatic specimens. We were able to get the tickets and parking online. The parking was easy and getting in the door was quick. The staff and people were friendly. Each of the exhibits has people who were very knowledgeable about the display. The dolphin show was amazing. My only complaints but do understand that an establishment must cost a lot to run would be the price of admission and food. The gift shop was also a bit pricey, but you have to get something to take home. Based on the number people visiting, price was no issue. It was packed on a Monday and it was fun. I was very impressed with the Whale Sharks and the South African Penguins. If you haven’t been, it is a must. Just make sure you have some money.

Overall, we had good luck. We came in and went to everything so orderly that we didn't have to wait in line for long and got in fast and out. So, personally it was a great experience especially if you have younger kids (7-12) I think they would really enjoy it. I was in there for a good 5 hours with plenty of stuff to do and overall I didn't everything cause some things were for kids. So, overall great trip, nice things and place is one of few with a whale shark so if possible book a way to see it up close. ✌👌 (Dolphin shows, sea lion shows, walking areas, etc)

Aquariums are super cool, and this one is certainly no exception. Famous for, among other things, shipping by UPS a whale shark to their largest tank. Additionally, they rehabilitate a number of sea creatures, including turtles, dolphins, and manatees. Some such dolphins they trained to perform a spectacular stunt show in another area of the aquarium. One could easily spend +5 hours inside. Yes, there is dining. And a liquor cart, for some reason. I suppose you can drink like a fish while you watch them

I’ve been to this aquarium at least once for the past three years & it never gets old! So of course it was a must when my cousin who was visiting from out of town mentioned wanting to go. 🤗 We were able to find a special where the tickets were almost half off before a certain hour. Definitely check their website for more details. To my surprise they had a couple free shows like the otter & sea lion show, which was fun & informative, as well as, the Dolphin show. Tips: there’s a no splash zone for both shows & absolutely no recording allowed! I really enjoyed the shows, but my favorite parts will always be the Penguins & the Tunnel. This is a great date (but eat elsewhere) or family night out spot! 🤗
