The Maryland Science Center, located in Baltimore's Inner Harbor, opened to the public in 1976. It includes three levels of exhibits, a planetarium, and an observatory. It was one of the original structures that drove the revitalization of the Baltimore Inner Harbor from its industrial roots to a thriving downtown destination. In 1987, an IMAX theater was added, but the museum continued to show its age as the end of the 20th century approached. In 2004, a large addition to the property was opened, and the modernized hands-on exhibits now include more than two dozen dinosaur skeletons. Subjects that the center displays include physical science, space, Earth science, the human body, and blue crabs that are native to the Chesapeake Bay.
Maryland Science Center won a 2006 Best of Baltimore award for "Best Place to Take Kids." In 2008 the Maryland Science Center was named one of the “10-Best Science Centers for Families” by Parent's magazine.

This place is great! It is clean, staff is very friendly, and there are tons of events to do throughout the year. Memberships are worth the spend, especially since it takes about two, maybe three, days to really enjoy all the exhibits that are around. We have been to laser events, New year's events, and several others this year. Each time the kids really enjoy theirselves and love teaching their friends when they tag along. Overall, if you want a great place for kids to learn with hands on experience, then this is the place to go!

I'm sure it's great with kids. I on the other hand was alone here on business. Not too much diversity for everyone. Was a little bored. Not the museum's fault but I have been to museum's where the word "children" is in it and it has great exibhits for everyone. Ex. Boston Children's Museum of Science. Is definitely well worth the price and can hang for hours alone.

This science center is fantastic. There are tons of activities and engaging exhibits for kids of all ages. The children's room is excellent and has an employee at the door to make sure kids don't leave alone so that you can relax while your kids play. The planetarium shows are great and free, offered every hour (imax costs extra). The people are helpful and efficient and are wonderful about moving the linea along when it's busy. Nearby parking is subsided if you're a member; membership is well worth it in my opinion.

All and all a great day. We did see a mouse on the third floor (not part of an exhibit), but I guess is somewhat to be expected in a place where small children are constantly snacking. It was otherwise clean and well maintained.

Amazing place for family and friends to check out cool stuff. I would recommend this place to everyone and anyone anytime of the year. Exceptional helpful staff, 0 complaints. Couldnt be better. Kids love it here, good stuff. Really amazing vibe with great views

Lots of great things... Little dated. Some exhibits haven't changed much in ages. Also, usually mobbed on the weekends, school holidays - naturally.

Good place, but wasnt my time of entertainment. It does nothing for me but make me think Im learning a subject in high school. For kids, probably a good place to take.

I went to the science center because of a field trip (was free). It is very interesting, I'd say. I just am not really interested in science. The views, however, were great, and to be honest I just wanted to come to eat the food. . The food was good though. I'm adding another star because they had soy milk. Thanks!! I wasn't really understanding of the movie because I don't really know about the subject though.

From Cleveland OH and visiting. Had a great time with our 5/3/1 YEAR olds. A little busy on a Monday with all of the school field trips. But still fun. We ate at the Cafe in the SC and it was very good as well!!

Paid $80 to take my two kids here today and it was so packed with school field trips that my kids could not get a chance to do any of the exhibits. MSC should really consider closing the center to the public if there are multiple schools here or at lease informing guest that there are schools on site. I gave it two stars instead of one because if we were able to do the exhibits they looked like they could have been very informative for my homeschooled kids. Such a disappointment and waste of money. I really wish we were able to actually enjoy the center instead of being pushed around by so many kids without chaperones. 😕. If anyone from from MSC is reading this, please do something.

The place is not nearly as big as it looks from the outside--it's about a tenth the size of the Museum of Science in Boston, which I encourage you to travel to instead. The dinosaur exhibit is tiny and contains very few bones or fossils, and the electricity exhibit doesn't even have one of those electricity balls. There is some interactive stuff for kids if you're merely coming here to let them run loose, but if your looking for more--and esspecially if you're not coming here with children--do not bother... It's definitely not worth the $25 adult admission.

We always love coming to the Maryland Science Center. Kids and adults have a great time. Lots of fun activities. The kids always start talking about past exhibits they have seen and can't wait to experience them again.

Excellent museum! We stopped for a quick visit on our way through Baltimore on a road trip because we get in free with our membership to our local science museum. We enjoyed the dinosaur exhibit, as well as a number of interactive displays/activities with museum staff. We also had a great time at the planetarium show. Our favorite part was the science experiment station we discovered near the body exhibit. The projects were perfect for my 9 year old who loves science, and craves a more hands-on experience. The museum staff member there was wonderful and went above and beyond by allowing my 6 year old to watch, and then engaged her when she lost interest. Finally, both kids found things they love in the museum store, which was not overpriced like most museum stores. We could have easily spent another hour exploring.

I have fond memories of coming here when I was a kid. The exhibits were really fun and interesting. The 3D IMAX movies were the coolest thing ever. However I haven't been in years, so I realize my review isn't completely valid. I noticed a reviewer said her daughter got pushed out of line by the other parents. Unfortunately times have changed, children and adults are less respectful than they used to be. If I was to go here now I don't know what my experience would be like. Hopefully I can get a chance to go back one day, and if I do I'll post an update.

Science exhibits were good but dated. The main downside is that the individuals working the exhibits didn't care and were more interested in their phones. Also during this visit, my credit card information was stolen by one of the employees. I'd choose another science museum before attending this one.

I went here for a school science trip and this was going to be the last field trip of the whole school year. They have really cool experiments for students and visitors to do, awesome exhibits like the nail bed, and other things that you can play with. This is a place that I would recommend going to if you are visiting Baltimore.
