The Fort Church, Bangalore, was a church located within Bangalore Fort. The church was demolished to make place for the construction of the Vani Vilas Hospital. The Government of Mysore then allotted land in Chamrajpet for construction of a new church, St. Luke's Church, Bangalore. Early records refer to the Fort Church as the Drummer's Chapel, constructed by British soldiers after the fall of Tippu Sultan. The Fort Church, Bangalore was the first protestant church to be raised in Bangalore.
The Fort Church, Bangalore was among 15 churches built by the Government of Madras before 1833, when there were no special rules with regards to building churches. The Military board of the Madras Army approved the construction. The Church raised in 1807 was for the use of the British troops posted in the Bangalore Fort.

Location: At the entrance of Victoria hospital, KR Market Parking facility: Available within the Victoria hospital campus (paid) Timings: 8.30am to 5.30pm At the entrance of the fort the blue sign board reveals the history of the same. Entrance is protected with a huge wooden door, the appearance itself will guarantee the ancient art, covered with thorns of metals for the protection. Very first step we can notice a small temple of Lord Ganesha. Few of the stones embedded inside the side walls are carved with different symbols( towards right side of the entrance) The left corridor will lead to the very big garden inside the fort. One more door may be witnessed inside the garden and space provided for the guards near the doors. Visitors may spend around 30 to 40 mins of time if they go through each & every art closely, engraved on the walls.

Good historical place. Nice place to click photos. Not spread in a large area but if you are passing by KR MARKET then you must visit it . Entry us completely free as for now. The area around the fort is bit dirty but the maintainence inside is good.

Nice fort... Impressive from outside by look and build. Inside it's not well maintained,240 is the ticket price, which also very high. No worries from parking.... Nice place for picnic or day out with family n kids

Good historical place. Great History. Yet few visitors. Not a very big place. Should go with a mood to know history rather than site seeing....

Beautiful architecture with great beauty. There is no entry fee for visiting this place. It is quite well maintained, and it's worth viewing it's enromous interior. Though 80 percent of architecture is not allowed to be seen due to security purposes but one should visit this place.

Nice place see. There's fantastic history of bengaluru fort. It was made from mud. We can see the outer side of fort we can see. Within the fort there is jail as told by security guard. It's not open for all. There's a stairs to go on the wall of the fort But it is also locked. Very crowded area. We need to park our vehicle in hospital premise.

Beautiful place bringing out the history of Bangalore. Unfortunately not easily visible unless you look for it. Best to take the metro and get down at KR Market from where it is a short walk. Parking is at the adjacent hospital. The surroundings could be maintained better.

Many people does not aware of this place even though it's located at the middle of the city. Great fort build very long time ago. It's well maintained now. But it's small place so you can cover it within 15 mns and not relaxing place. Just we can go and visit the beauty.

Architectural symbol of medieval India. Fort reveals some hidden history of its time. I recommend people to visit once no need to pay anything to get a entry into fort *Do you know during medieval period, this fort was surrounded by big lake* Since it is at the centre of city you can easily come here by bmtc/cabs/auto/metro 'No parking facilities for private vehicle' people come by private vehicle can park their vehicles in hospital premises may be with prior permission of security. Thank you

Free entry to the fort. Very small and you can spend 15min walk through the fort. You can see the rock construction and wooden doors of our olden times. Worth visiting, too much traffic near to the area with no parking.

This is South Indian 18th century architecture at its finest. This imposing fort gives an aerial view of the entire city, while giving the tourist a feel of the rich history of Bangalore, which is a city steeped in culture and heritage. This is a must-visit tourist destination for anyone interested in history or architectural brilliance. This towering structure can also be seen from the moon, just like the Great Wall of China, and is a protected UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is also being considered for induction as a "Wonder of the World". Perfect to spend an entire day with family and friends. Go for it, and tell me how it was!

A famous historical landmark located at the heart of Bangalore. This place will take you hundreds of years back when Bangalore was ruled by major dynasties. There are guides who can assist you to learn more about it's history and significance. Although regarded as a fort but it is not enormous in size. You can cover the entire region within 5 minutes time. Must visit. 😊

Had a nice visit here. When you rise in the morning, give thanks for the light, for your life, for your strength. Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason to give thanks, the fault lies in yourself.
