If you need a time out from Bangkok come here. As parks go there are probably nicer ones to be had, but we liked it so much that we came back here several times during our stay. It has a big lake and there are plenty if benches to sit on and many people are having picnics here. In the evenings / when it is getting a bit cooler there are a lot of runners and it gets quite lively. For us the main draw to this park is funnily enough the wildlife. We love going out onto the lake with one of the swan boats and try to spot as many monitor lizards (there are some very big ones), turtles, frogs and birds etc as we can. Of course you can do exactly the same without a boat as well. There's also a playground for kids.

Lumphini park is a gorgeous park! We went for a nice pick nick and stayed for the nature. It’s calm and was fairly quiet when we went (around 2pm on a Tuesday). We really enjoyed watching the huge monitor lizards go about their day, they are really beautiful creatures. We even spotted some turtles! Would highly recommend adding this to your itinerary whilst in Bangkok.

The park was better than expected. After reading many reviews. Stating that It is overrated, keeping in mind it is Just a public park. The lake had a beautiful emerald colour to it. We went out on a pedal boat. I think it was 100 baht for 30 mins. So that is a rough guess. We saw many water monitors and a couple of turtles. The water monitors, are unfazed by people. I personally wouldn't get too close. There were others trying to get up close and personal. We spent about 2 hours in total, including the time out on the boat. I recommend it.

Very cool park. Quiet areas, trees and grass. There were at least 2 proper outdoor gyms for weight training and they have a food court in the back. The best part is in the late afternoon there are huge group workout sessions, running, yoga and dancing. Go there and excercise with a fun group!

Lumphini park is a park with many faces. During the day you can have a nice and quiet rest somewhere on a bench. At the end of the day you’ll find people exercising aerobics at many locations throughout the park. And at the end of the day, don’t get run over by runners who are investing the area massively. Another experience is the presence of quite a monstrous creature; the monitor lizard. You have to like it because the animal does not look sweet, cute or like able (at least not for me). There have been many more years ago and to me it’s unknown why the population seems to shrink. Anyone out there who knows what happened? Beside the influence of park management and the government... Shortly put, the park is an awesome place to spend an afternoon. Many things to see and a perfect hideaway from the busy citylife. Always nice to have places like that in Bangkok.

Very nice park, but unfortunately very run down. Is anybody servicing this place? Look at any park in Japan. That's how awesome a city park could be. The playground for children is a disgrace. That's the best you can do? 😢

One of my favourite parks in Bangkok. Nice to stroll around and watch the swan boats floating on the water. The park is quite big, so you could easily spend a morning or afternoon here. And with the metro stations close by, it's easy to reach too

This place is so cool. Really great place to bring kids as a tourists. There are lots of fish turtles and the best part are the large monitor lizards that you will see by the water. There are locals that sell food to feed the fish. The playground is okay. Just a peaceful place to go. Can also rent paddle boats.

Loved it. Very pretty. Little temples, pagodas and boating. Take your time and you'll see one of the metre long monitor lizards, perhaps even chewing on a large fish it's grabbed from one of the lovely lakes. I couldn't get an ice cream or drink once in the park sadly, so if you're taking kiss, be prepared before you go.

Clearly marked running trail makes it easy to get a morning run in. There are also many exercise machines available to visitors along the trail. It was great being able to run by the lake as it makes the temperature feel much lower than it actually is. Restrooms are available to public and are well kept. Also watch out for the occasional kimono dragon or turtle crossing the road!

Peaceful!!! Lumphini Park is a multi-purpose park. Many activities are provided for citizens and tourists. The park is a green area. There are trees, flowers, lakes, and animals. The park has Bangkok's first public library and dance hall. During winter, the Palm Garden of Lumphini Park becomes the site for the annual Concert in the Park featuring classical music by the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra and other bands.

Great Park to relax, walk and jog in. There are plenty of wildlife to see and watch out for the big lizards. Here you can rent paddling boats also, but it was closed when I was there. Also all the places where you can buy water and such were closed as well. This park has even exercise equipment you can use if you feel a need to exercise. Lots of grass where you can sit and relax and enjoy the nature. Highly recommend this place to everyone.

I’ve been coming to Bangkok for about 4 years now and I always try to stay somewhere near Lumphini Park. This park is incredible! If you’re into running or jogging, you’ll be happy to know that one lap around the park is about 3.2km. During the evening 5-7pm all the fitness people come out and start jogging or running around the park. If you’re into lifting weights, you will find multiple outdoor gyms scattered around the park. Usually one day price is just 20 baht. If you want to play basketball, they have court in the back of the park. Pick-up games are from 5-8pm. If you’re here with the family, why not rent a paddle boat and enjoy the artificial lake? There are also multiple playgrounds for your kids to enjoy. You’ll run into other parents and more than likely have a fantastic time. If you’re lucky you will sometimes see turtles and giant lizards freely roaming around. But don’t get too close, you’ll probably scare them away and they will go back inside the lake. To put it in a simple sentence; Lumphini Park is a slice of paradise in the heart of a city that never sleeps. It's a great place to relax and breathe some fresh air. I highly recommend checking this place out on your trip to Bangkok.

June 2018 Back again to try to claim Course Record ;) saw another 7footer Monitor Lizard crossing the running path! Oct 2017 Love this park and a must visit if you love to run in Bangkok. One loop is 2.5km and offers flat run if you game for a PB or two. If you are keen, a Park connector brings you to Benjakiti Park about 1km away. By the way, so not be alarmed with sight of monitor lizard crossing the park!

Nice park at heart of Bangkok central. When in the Park, you can see green and trees around you. Rest and chatting under trees is nice choose, cool wind around and won't feel hot even at noon time. It's welcome cycling and running inside the Park.

I love this urban park, located in the middle of Bangkok. It's big enough to do some serious running. A lap around the outside track/road is a little over 2 km. A lot of exercise groups. Some wildlife can also be seen such as a monitor lizard and birds. Try running around the inside roads, through the islands and behind the buildings. In the morning there is some kind of a market outside the park with people selling food.

Lumphini Park is one of the bigger parks in the heart of Bangkok with lakes lawns and big trees. There are lots of possibilities for exercise from jogging and cycling to swimming and badminton or boats for hire. There is a work out corner as well with simple machines. During the day time the park is quiet in the morning and in the evening it's busy with lots of people doing their exercises...

The best Park. In Bangkok. Good running track used by many from about 4pm onwards. They also have group aerobics Mon to Friday from 5.30pm an outdoor gym. A big lake oh and a few salamanders wondering around the edge of the lake.
