The Pharmacy Museum of the University of Basel (Pharmaziemuseum der Universität Basel, formerly Pharmazie-Historisches Museum der Universität Basel, originally Sammlung für das historische Apothekenwesen) shows in its permanent collection the history of medicinal remedies and their preparation. Designed as a collection of specimens for study purposes, the museum was founded in 1924 by Josef Anton Häfliger (1873–1954) and has been preserved to this day in its original form as a 'scientific cabinet'.

really fun old school museum for medicine. it walks through strange history of medicine components up to theory and people of the industry. they also take the hotel 1/2 off museum card. the audio tour is great.

It is ok for someone interested into this but is not exceling. They have a shop where you can find many of standard bottles/vasels used for chemicals. I will not recomend it for kids as they have nothing interactive to see/play with. It is practicaly a waisted space full of shelfs filled with pharmacy related equipments. Even the electronic audio guide provided is not upgrade the experionce

If you like unusual museums (like I do!), you'll enjoy this one. Seeing some of the (dreadful) old methods that attempted to remedy ills is eye-opening. Even better, the building itself is historically noteworthy, and adds a lot of character to an already unique place. If you're in Basel, this is 100% worth your time.
