There are many other really nice fish markets in the world. So many other nice place to visit in Bergen. This is the last I would recommend
A fish lovers paradise. Fish and chips- no worries. Top of the line dining - got it covered. Big thumbs up
The market has a great location and the very high fish offerings such as king crabs are good. However the normal fish plates are quite average and certainty not worth the price. The main drawcard is that it looks like a proper market and the location is excellent.
It is an open air fish market, located at the port of Burgen city. The variety of the fresh fish and the sea food is great. There are many shops with outdoor seating, which you may select the fish you want and they cooked it at the same time. We had a very good lunch at one of these.
Fun experience. Very exciting to see the fresh seafood and get it cooked right in front of your eyes. As a limited seafood eater, I had some cod cakes. Very interesting for sure if you're used to American fish cakes. These here in Norway have no breading or bread filling and seem to be a compressed cod with seasoning almost like the texture of bologna. Not bad but not my favorite either due to texture. My mother got a seafood skewer which she liked and my sister got a whale burger which was similar to a thinly sliced steak. We definitely plan on going back during our trip.
