Lovely historic cathedral. For the price and other options in Berlin it's not the most awe-inspiring. If you are touring cathedrals in Berlin then this one is a must, but if you can only see one then this is certainly not it.

Absolutely stunning cathedral, breathtaking views over the city for only €3 and well worth the walk up the steps. Highly recommended.

nice place to visit but not a "must"

It is a nice place to visit. For classical music - well that depends. The walls don't resonate that well - too much concrete, I guess.

Very old and beautiful historical building that is located among newer buildings and it's really amazing to see the diffrences in the building styles in my opinion it worth visiting the place even if you are in a hurry to somewhere as not every day you can see an old building as this one

Beautiful cathedral in the square.

Beautiful historical building surrounded by newer buildings. The German cathedral, the Gendarmenmarkt and a theatre are nearby too. You definitely don't want to miss this area on your trip through Berlin. The nearby public transportation options are very good.

The French and the German Cathedral together with the Staatsoper Berlin they are highly respresenting buildings and the ensemble is one of the best in Berlin and a must to visit for any tourist.

Stately French church dating back to the 17th century featuring a domed tower with sweeping views.

it was an old and nice church beside the other historical places.

A nice old monument with other vintage structures around it. Unfortunately we could not find a way in but would be great if there was an option to explore the cathedral from within.

Französischer Dom is one of two similar churches at Gendarmenmarkt along with Deutscher Dom. It is located at the northern end of the square and is an attractive building to see in Berlin. This church was built by Louis Cayart and Abraham Quesney (1701-1705) and was modelled after Huguenot church in Charenton, France. The tower and dome was added between 1780-85 by Carl von Gontard, who also built the Deutscher Dom at the same time, hence their identical appearance. When visiting Gendarmenmarkt, one can't help but notice the general symmetry between Französischer Dom and Deutscher Dom. However, they are not twin churches and have noticeable differences in the facade and portico area of the church front if you look at both buildings closely. Französischer Dom was heavily damaged during WWII and not rebuilt until 1977 to 1981. Today, its no longer used for religious purposes. There is a small Huguenot Museum, assembly hall and archives within. Note: During the annual Christmas Market at Gendarmenmarkt, we found Französischer Dom lit up at night time and quite attractive to see.
