The square itself is in rather picturesque place, the Christmas market here somewhat leaves to be desired. Food options are pretty standard, mulled wine not quite good, but not horrible either. Entrance is not free, and if you feel more comfortable at less crowded markets, the fee might be totally worth it. Personally, I would recommend to experiment with other, more lustrous markets and try you luck with finding better options on mulled wine and food (long waiting lines are usually a good indicator of quality), because the reward of having a glass of really good mulled wine in a Christmas market is actually worth the search and wait.

Loved loved everything about this place! Lucky for me it was close to where I was staying and I was able to walk to apparently the best Christmas market in Berlin! Very festive, cheerful, and unique it was. Great food stalls, lots of craft store where people proudly displayed hand made crafts and whimsical items. There was even live music and entertainment. I had a great time and am happy I was able to visit this market during my two day visit to Berlin.

The best Christmas market in Berlin. If you are tourist in December make sure you add this to your places to visit. The atmosphere is very classy with the historic buildings in the backdrop and the live music. There are lot of stalls where you can try a variety of food and drinks. We ate so much there that we had to skip our dinner. The entrance fee costs 1 euro per person.

Bustling Christmas market fills the square. 1 Euro admission price starts at 11 on weekends. Some very high end designer stalls with associated designer prices. Nice sit-down (and heated) restaurants run by famous and historic restaurants in Berlin. Nice live music through the day. The historic buildings make a lovely backdrop for.the market.

One of the nicest squares in Berlin, filled with history. Make sure to read or ask about the 2 churches and buildings there, very interesting piece of Berlin's history. Surrounded by lots of cafes and coffee shops, and when the weather is nice you can enjoy sitting outdoors. Location is very central. If in Berlin, it is worth a visit and spending a day or an evening around.

Nice place to visit in Berlin. We took the guided tour and the guide explained us the importance of this square. On any sunny day. It's worth visiting. At the square , at the centre you have old theatre and at both side have the identical Church of different sect.

Big historic market square between two identical churches (French cathedral and German cathedral) and a theatre on the third side. It's a picturesque place. The food options are pretty standard tho. Still, you definitely don't want to miss Gendarmenmarkt on your trip through Berlin. Good public transportation options nearby.

Loved the area and the constitutional history museum inside the German dome. Would have enjoyed the Huguenot museum inside the French dome but unfortunately they are closed for renovation now. Very lively area. There was a EU demonstration going on and lots of singing and colorful banners (all in German though)

Great place. All 3 buildings on 3 sides gives great panoramic views. Don't know how it would look in winter but it was awesome in April. Buildings on both sides are identical but names are different.

Came for the Christmas markets and we were not disappointed! Lots of historical buildings in this area of Berlin, lots to see and do, and the food is exceptional where ever you may go. The street food if it's on when your there should not be missed, just thinking about it is making me hungry! Make sure your selfie game is strong... you'll be taking lots :)

Went here on a Thursday night. They have foods from the world every Thursday. Both the atmosphere and the food and drink were excellent. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of a lack of seating.

On a nice day this is an exceptional place to sightsee - rest in the shade and stroll to the other near by tourist attractions. Even if you don't intend on going into the museum or church you can still snap a few great pics here with beautiful architecture in the shot. The sheer size of the buildings is a wonderful thing to behold.

A photographic square in Berlin that is on a stop for city tours. Some great architecture for the eyes and the camera. There is a small outdoor cafe on the square that serves up some petty good good and beverages. That is also worth a visit.

Probably the best location in Berlin. Super cute area walking distance from check point Charley. Great restaurants in the area and beautiful picture taking all around you. When and if I bring friends and family to Berlin, this will be my stay at location

Beautiful plaza with 3 beautiful buildings and a nice fountain. The German Cathedral was very disappointing though. They do not allow you access to the top of the dome. The inside is all about the Reichstag. Visit to see the plaza and the exterior architecture of the buildings.

Beautiful square nestled between 2 churches and the concert house. During the holidays has a lovely Christmas market. Go in the afternoon to avoid the crowds
