Indautxu is a quarter of central Bilbao, Basque Country (Spain), located in the district of Abando. It is a relatively affluent neighbourhood and is most famous for the large number of private hospitals and clinics, the large Society of Jesus school and the Doña Casilda Iturrizar park, all located in the area.
Indautxu was a predominantly rural area of the former elizate of Abando until its annexation to the city of Bilbao in 1870. Starting in the late 19th century, and as the influence of neighbouring city of Bilbao grew bigger with the construction of the ensanche in former Abando lands, Indautxu began to be populated by wealthy families coming from the industrial bourgeoisie of the province, giving way to the construction of many villas. In 1907 Indautxu was finally integrated into Bilbao's urban fabric as part of its ensanche.

Great community centre.this place is amazing. Very impressive architecture. As you step in, you are positively surprised by the more than 40 columns on the ground floor. The centre has a gym, a library - both very well equipped -, restaurants (with a rooftop terrace), and it hosts events. It also has a few concept shops and space for workshops and concerts. Look for the pool on ceiling from the ground floor. Very cool

Former warehouse turned public space for the arts and literature. It sounds cool and actually is!! Going inside you'll be struck first by the unusual columns that connect three main upper level salons with the main {1st} floor. Each one is a work of art, and in some if the lower and upper level floors, you will find galleries exhibiting contemporary art. There's a library on the main and upper levels that I hear has an amazing view from its upper level and a cinema in the lower level. There are several cultural, musical, and artistic events that take place in this center really close to the San Mamés station (or connected to it?} and it's almost all free!

A large space with a lot do, great for a rainy day. The gallery had a good show on, the library was very cool, the cafe was cosy and open all day, and the pool was awesome to see. A must see in Bilbao

Fantastic place with so many different things to do. Tonight there was a 30 piece band/orchestra performing in the communal area. I went to the library to study but it was great having live music in the background.

Big variety of things to do. Nice atmosphere. Bars and restaurants are a bit expensive.

Old wine storage bulding and now a community centre with casual and upscale restaurants, a cinema, a parking, a public library and a public fitness centre (including a pool on the top floor). Undoubtedly the city had a great idea with the renovation of the building. One of the most sticking things of the building is the beautiful collection of columns that sustain the structure. Each column is unique, of a different material, shape and style than the others. The fact that the building has not much natural light gives it a faint air, like a sculpture garden.

What a beauty this place is! It’s all you expect from it. The shop, the services, the gym ( it should have steam room). The pool and the restaurants. It’s like waking into the past but with all of today’s technology and services. Love La Alhondiga

The former "Alhondiga" is a beautiful building with lots of options to visit and enjoy. From the terrace where you can enjoy a drink in good weather to the beautifully decorated columns and the pool you can see in the ceiling of the ground floor, the place is totally worth a visit, don't miss it!

Only got a glimpse of this building, but we loved what we saw. A special kudos for the sitting area under the moon! The communal areas are packed with interesting arts and design objects, and offer a great opportunity for visitors to relax and enjoy great creations!

Very nice building, more pretty than functional though. The pool was extremely crowded on a Saturday and not really suited for swim training. The glass floor is a very cool feature.

This is how to convert an old warehouse to modern use! Traditional architecture and interior design that joins form and function together to create excellent space for cinemas, auditorium, stores, conference facilities and even an open air rooftop swimming pool visible from below via glass ceiling panels!

This cinema is wonderful! It shows blockbuster movies in English and in Spanish. Being an american living in Spain it's nice everything once in awhile to see a movies in English. The staff are very nice and the cinema is full of comfortable seating! I higjly recommend this theater as on Sunday movies are only 5 euros at night!

An amazing space to visit and relax. We wandered around looking at the pillars and the moon on our visit. If you look up you can see people's bums in the pool!!
