The Mount Lofty Fire Tower sits on top of Mount Lofty in the Adelaide Hills just to the east of the city of Adelaide, South Australia. The 34m high tower has a commanding view over a huge area of the rural areas surrounding Adelaide, and on a clear day the view can extend to as far as Kangaroo Island to the southwest, Monarto to the east, the Fleurieu Peninsula to the south, and the grassy plains beyond Two Wells to the north. The tower is used to spot fires in the Adelaide Hills and surrounds on days of very high or extreme fire danger during summer. The spotting crew determine the location of a smoke sighting by taking a bearing and then calculating distance using topographic maps. Details of the sighting are then passed to the Country Fire Service Regional Office in Mount Barker who despatch the nearest fire brigade.
Great lookout and walk trail. Nice spot for a coffee. Was surprised to find parking meters.
Amazing views, great food, friendly staff and good service. Prices for lunch are very very reasonable. As at June 2018, parking only $4. Perfect place to take visitors.
Great views tho chilly this time of year. Saw kangaroos close to trail and kookaburras not far away. Lovely walking trails. Downside cafe closes early. Well worth the trip just don't expect to have a warm beverage after 5pm.
The top most point of Adelaide, Australia. A beautiful place to enjoy the view of Adelaide city from the top. Kangaroos are in abundance. A windy place with sufficient car park.
I hiked from waterfall gully to Mount lofty summit...it was wonderful experience. Got very beautiful souvenir shop Nd lovely restaurant. Saw beautiful vies of cities and sunset....unforgettable.
This is a beautiful place to visit with friends and family. Very short drive from city and even if you want to take challenges you can chose the walking track from waterfall gully to mount lofty. Wild and serenity of nature will pleased your mind for sure if you love nature. You can see a beautiful view of city from here. Don't forget to capture it in your memory.. 😀
Always love coming here, especially at night. The panoramic view is just superb whether it is daytime or the beautiful lights at night. The kiosk has a great range of souvenirs from the budget friendly to the premium range. When the cafe/restaurant is open they make a great coffee too and the meals whilst a bit pricey, do have the fabulous views to compensate. It's a bit of a bummer that you have to pay for parking, but it's not too bad. If coming here in winter, dress warm.
Nice scenic view of Adelaide. Also has cafe and restaurant facilities. Can get cold and windy, however there is wind protection but that doesn't have any views
Worst experience I've ever had at a hotel. Was put into the wrong room due to a booking error. The hotel is being renovated and was woken up this morning by unbearably loud construction noise from the adjacent room. Now I'm not talking about mild noise here - this was full-on construction and we were worried our two year old son might get damage to his ears. Had to complain three times and instead of stopping the noise we were transferred to a temporary room before finally being transferred to the correct room that we booked (construction noise still bothersome but at least tolerable). Absolutely disgraceful that a hotel books guests under these conditions.
Once you are at the top, you will have a great view. Unfortunately this lookout is a bit far away from the city, so you won't see any details. But nevertheless I enjoyed watching the sunset there. Last but not least the toilets next to the restaurant are very clean.
You go for the experience of making your way up there (it is truly a difficult hike up to there from waterfall gully). Still though, there are other trails around adelaide that have better scenery all the way up- this is not that scenic a walk. I think it is so popular because of the challenge. And yep: can confirm it's a great way to get fit! Once up there it's a nice view, and there are some overpriced meals as you'd expect.
Incredible view, and parking here means you can drive up comfortably. Well worth a hike from Waterfall Gully for the more adventurous. The café and restaurant are also lovely, with a well thought out menu for the hungry or thirsty traveller. It can be busy at times, but the teip is worth it.
A must visit for visitors to Adelaide for the fantastic views of city and hills as well as a hike if you're up to it. Cafe has refreshments and there's also a souvenir shop.
Nice drive to the summit. Plenty of parking available. Cost for parking is $4 for those that aren't aware. Spectacular views of the city skyline and the gulf. Well worth the trip.
This visit is a great experience, there are expansive views of Adelaide out to the gulf. The cafe is comfortable with seating inside and outside. The Cafe menu is quite extensive with good food options available. The service even though at times busy are good. Great place to bring overseas visitors. We enjoyed our coffee and lunch.
I visited to this place almost 3 weeks ago with my partner and brother who was visiting us from India. We had great time there. I really enjoyed this spot and would recommend all the tourist and people living in Adelaide should visit to this place every month because I am planning to go there next week with my partner.
