A great day out! The animals seemed happy and well looked after, and were often content to come over to look at the guests which was great to see. There were a lot of very cute babies too! The parking costs extra but at £2.50 for the day is reasonably priced. The drinks on the park were also reasonably priced (£2 a coffee).
Excellent place. Amount of information provided for each animal is phenomenal. Enclosures are large and well equipped. Loads to do and will spaced out. Loads for kids to do as well. The paths around the zoo are well maintained and clean. The routes are also well thought out so you can get round to see everything without doubling back or getting confused where you are. Staff are helpful and it was easy enough to find someone if needed. Facilities were Chan and tidy and space out around so you were never to far away from them.
Great zoo. Plenty to see even if the animals are inside you can still go in and see them. Food and drink is reasonable as well. I'd recommend doing the book in advance and including the meal deal.
I came to see the baby Gorrila he was feeling a little shy but still loved the visit. The lions and tigers were out and being vocal so made up for it. Will be back again to see if I can see the little baby not time. Keep up the great work you do can't wait to see the new elephant house not time also.
Great zoo at a good price for all the family when compared to others. This took a day to get around with the kids and I think we still missed a couple of the animals out. It is well arranged and talks / feeds are frequent. The best part of the day was the sea lion show. Highly recommend.
Had to come here after being recommended. And I believe I did the right job it made a Hugh smile on my sons face. He absolutely loved the monkeys 🐒, he really enjoyed his day out and wants to come again. I am ready to go again in the summers as it was a bit cold.. it has a good selection of food and drinks at reasonable prices.. my sons favourite zoo
Great visit, especially when the sun is out. I recommend a membership if you plan to visit 3 or 4 times in the year. Lots of small new upgrades this year (2018). One big update is the all new elephant area, wow very impressive! Next update needs to be the cafe, but all in all a must visit for anyone.
Great day out with the kids even though weather wasn't great. We weren't given a map or a leaflet with info about ranger talks or feeding times so we missed quite a lot I don't know if you have to ask for the maps or what. The enclosures are quite small but the animals look well looked after. But we felt so sad after seeing the otter as the info on the wall said they like to live in groups of 20 and there was just 1 poor otter that was running round squealing. Food was OK and reasonably priced, coffee was nice throughout the zoo (got to have a descent cook of coffee lol)
We went on a very cold day and some of the areas were closed. But there was plenty to do and see. Arrived at 10am left at 4pm.. Mid week is good as not too crowded. Liked so much bought a yearly pass
Amazing zoo i travel here every year to see the gorillas. The zoo is well spaced out. Unlike other zoo's there encounters are very well priced we did giraffe feeding for only £20. There kids area with farm animals is an added bonus fantastic day out for all the family. Dinosaur area pleased my 6 year old son shows were great
Came as part of a school group with three reception classes earlier in the year. The education centre was really good and provided a lot of quality information for the children though passing a dead fox around didn't sit well with me personally... The rest of zoo leaves a lot to be desired. The orangutans looked positively distressed when we saw them and it was disturbing to watch though the children won't have thought anything of it, the adults in the group were upset by it. When I visited the dinosaur land was also being renovated so hopefully that will inject something into the zoo once finished.
Nice little zoo. Plenty to see and do. Lots of talks and 'shows' through the day. Nice selection of animals all looking very well cared for! The sea lion show was great! The whole zoo generally is clean, tidy and well looked after. There are plenty of opportunities to get up close to some of the animals. I Would advise avoiding the lake view cafe though. Decent selection of food available, however it's not great quality and is over-priced, not especially clean either. My advice, take a packed lunch for the family and save yourself the disappointment (and a few pounds). Easy to find, plenty of parking available, but stop at main entrance with regular busses. Overall, a great day out for the whole family!
Amazing, massive zoo and a great selection of animals. I especially enjoyed visiting all the primates. The canteen and food courts were very expensive for what was on offer and the tables were dirty and service was lax, I would reccomend taking a packed lunch or eating somewhere else. The staff were great and other than the weather it was an excellent day out.
Couple years back my partner and I were looking to treat the kids by buying a season ticket to a zoo (they are animal crazy). We visited Chester Zoo, loved it, bought the season tickets, then went as often as we could. Chester is great, and I would recommend to anyone who wants a good day out.... But it doesn't come close to Blackpool! At least, not until they finish the new "Islands" project, then I'll reconsider. Blackpool zoo is smaller, but actually feels like you see more because you don't spend half your time walking between enclosures, or looping back on yourself repeatedly looking for the one animal or section you've missed. It was clean and tidy, the animals looked healthy and cared for, and the enclosures were actually better designed to get the viewing public close to the animals (my kids would always be excited for Chester, but when we were there, they would want to move on to another enclosure very quickly, each and every time... Now I know why... At Blackpool we had to move them along, they were transfixed just watching these amazing creatures). Oh and its cheaper, and (despite being a beautiful bank holiday Saturday) it isn't anywhere near as congested and chaotic as Chester is. Really relaxing enjoyable experience. Recommended for any animal lover.
Lovely zoo and amazing staff. You can spend a whole day here and not see everything. We also paid for a giraffe feeding and owl flying experience for our daughter's birthday as well as a family meet and greet with sea lions which cost 10 pounds for each person talking part. Animal shows happen throughout the day so you are never short of things to do. There are a lot of things in the zoo that costs extra which begin to add up and this is why I have only given 4 stars. Great day out.
absolutely amazing took my son hear for his 1st birthday today with my phionse and family and he never stopped smiling the entire way round. there is lots to see and do i would have to say its both fun and educational for children and adults alike. only got to see the one show which was the sea lion show due to time we arrived but was still really good fun would definitely recommend. also you can book personal experiences to get hands on or up close to some animals. which i thinks amazing.
A great zoo, knowledgeable staff but in need of investment as its tired and the animals though well cared for could do with an upgrade to their homes. Mainly on the flat for walking which is a positive, there are lifts to get you up to higher enclosures. Great play areas for children and plenty of cafes and toilets dotted about throughout the grounds. There are areas you can get up close to the animals and the seal lions are a must see. On this occasion I went with school and the educational session was fab.
A very busy and warm bank holiday Monday! Car park was to capacity. It should also make people aware a little more clearly that the car park needs paying for, in particular with change only! An OK range of animals, had it not been so busy I think we would have got more use out of the facilities.
Fantastic zoo!. Probably one of the best I've been to. You can really make a day out of a visit here with the multiple food areas (beware the seagulls, the are savage), play zones including mini golf and a bouncy castle. There is also a big green you can sit on and let the younger kids play in the park. The Zoo has a wide range of animals and it was wonderful to see so many of them roaming about in wide spaces and not in closed in areas. The Zoo is very clean and seems well kept. We visited in the middle of a heatwave and the zoo seemed to care greatly that the animals would be feeling this too and some shows were off due to the weather. All in all a great day out
Our family loves going to the zoo. Never had a bad experience wot so ever. We go about once a year. It started when my son was little now 7. We went to see the penguins an he threw his hat in the water. One of the penguins took it under the water, and started playing with it. 😂
Very lovely day out with the family - 3 children between the ages or 2-10 years old. Plenty to see and do, good play area outside and a indoor play area that you have to pay for but only a couple of pounds per child if you have paid for entry in to the zoo. Had to pay for parking and wasn't aware so luckily had change. Didn't get to see any of the big cats on my visit, not sure where they were on the day. Kids had a fab day.
Fantastic zoo. Clean and very child friendly. Lots of different animals and birds from all over the world. Amazing elephant enclosure. All seem really well cared for. Great areas for picnics and children to play.
