Art museum in a unique location. Ship trips possible from Bratislava. Prices above average. The park area is wonderful, especially on sunny days.
I am not much of an art lover but visited Danubiana on a cold February on recommendation of a friend. I must say it was worth the 40 min trip by bus. Gallery is unusual and delightful, with surprising installations and eccentric decisions. Particularly liked the photo exhibition of Robert Vano and his portraits of males. Built on a protruding land in the Danube, close to point where 3 borders meet, the area outside with its scilptures must be very pleasant itself in fine weather. Unfortunately I didn't venture out as it was a freezing windy day snowy day. Entrance is on the expensive side, 10 Euro (reduced price for students, seniors and family). If you don't have a car, don't be discouraged. Bus 90 runs every hour from the New National Theatre.Leaves at the 18th minute of an hour (e.g.10.18, 11.18,) and on the way back leaves at the round hour (11.00, 12.00 etc).Tickets costs 1.20 E. There was no ticket machine at either end of the line so make sure you have at least one in advance, cos you can buy a bus ticket from the reception desk at Danubiana. I didn't see a cafeteria (there may be one but there were no signs indications) so I hurried to catch the bus, otherewise I could have spent another hour browsing around ad enjoying a cup of coffee looking at the Danube waters.
Nothing special during winter time. I wouldn't suggest this place during winter. But maybe it's ok during summer time, don't know about that.
One of best modern art museum ! Great location by the sea. Art pieces blended well with the museum architecture. Absolutely worth a visit! And they have a nice souvenirs shop too!
Stunning, modern, artistic. Surrounded by reservoir Cunovo makes the experience over the top. The place is clean and organized. The staff is nice.
Best gallery of modern art in Slovakia. Amazing place, surrounded by water, beautiful views. It is privately owned. The owner had a dream of creating a special place to display Slovak (and other) modern art based on his love for Vincent van Gogh. It was a long journey to put all the necessary funding together, but he succeeded. Definitely worth visiting if you're in Bratislava.
One of the best galleries I've ever visited. Nicely connected with the surrounding environment. The location and space enable adequate presentation of various kinds of art. From what I can tell, the dramaturgy of exhibitions is nicely thought through. Totally worth the trip from Bratislava city centre.
Amazing modern art museum. Must see when in Bratislava. It take approximately 40 min from the town centre. But it's worth to see by any art lover.
Great museum, one of the most interesting I could do. The staff was very nice and the permanent exhibitions are in large glass rooms overlooking the Danube, awesome! The temporary exhibitions are also very inspiring! the garden is full of statues until to the roof. very pleasant to walk along the Danube with the permanent calm that surrounds the museum. Easy to get to, just take the bus 90 from the Bratislava Theater for 40min drive, be careful to watch the departure times !!
Great gallery of Modern Arts near Bratislava. We go every year at least once. In addition to interesting expositions and impressive permanent exhibition, the place itself is a work of architecture.
