The Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium is located on the grounds of the Brisbane Botanic Gardens in the suburb of Mount Coot-tha, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The Planetarium was officially opened on 24 May 1978.
The Planetarium is named after Sir Thomas Brisbane, governor of the colony of New South Wales (1821 - 1825) and well known Scottish astronomer who established the first significant observatory at Parramatta, Australia, in 1822 for mapping the southern skies. The Planetarium is located about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) from the Central Business District, and is administered by the Brisbane City Council.

Went in the summer, so it was pretty hot and humid - though by my Malaysian standards, relatively tame. Definitely plenty to keep you busy walking around, albeit with less of an educational element and more of a 'park' feel overall - nothing wrong with that, especially if your priorities are to burn away time and calories! The bus ride up from town is pretty straightforward, with me having to make only one transfer in some isolated stop near a roundabout(they do have a direct bus coming back though, so that's a strange one). There's a Planetarium and a Herbarium connected to the gardens so it'll definitely qualify for a whole day's trip, if you're not planning to go anywhere else.

Great place to go for a walk or just relax at. Lots of different things to photograph an kids should enjoy. When staying in Brisbane you should get a bit of nature an enjoy yourself here. The restaurant has a small menu but all you should need with great coffee.

It is quite big. Built more than 40 years ago, this place was an absolute delight to visit with my family. Loved the free guided tour which made it all worthwhile. Cocoa tree was a nice surprise.

Been there a few times now over the years. Still one of the pleasant spots to visit for an easy stroll. Very very expensive ice cream so gave that a miss. Helpful guides ever willing to explain and answer questions. Must visit for any tourist.

The gardens are beautiful but burnt food an issue in the new cafe. The chef needs to learn how to fry an egg without black edges and and that chickpea flour in the fritters does not have to be burnt to dark chocolate brown. Turn down the heat! Shame as the setting is lovely. Waitresses were very nice about replacing the meal. Thank you girls. Give your chef hell though.
