Customs House is a heritage-listed customs house at 427 Queen Street, Brisbane CBD, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It was designed by Charles H McLay and built from 1886 to 1889 at a cost of £38,346 by John Petrie & Son. It was originally used for the collection of customs duty and was opened in 1889, when Queensland was a British colony, replacing the original Customs House located at Petrie Bight. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 7 February 2005.
The collection of custom duties on imported products was particularly important to Queensland where the manufacturing sector was slow to develop. Brisbane was declared a port city in 1846. In 1908, seven years after federation, the building was acquired by the federal government.

This is the second time we have visited Custom House and on both occasions the staff and meals were of the highest quality. Adding to the enjoyable experience is the amazing sandstone building and stunning views of the Brisbane river. Custom House is great for a coffee, lunch or dinner.

Enjoyable cuisine with a menu that normal people can understand. Staff are exceptional here and really make it stand out from other restaurants. Extensive wine list and cocktails are extremely well priced. N.B. For those who use them, our salary sacrificing card did not work here, which is the only negative about this place.

feedback from dinner ambience: 4/10 food: 6/10 service: 5/10 for the fine dining prices the interiors can be a lot better, looks more like a fine cafe than a fine dining experience. some food were excellent some were just above par. highlight of the evening would be the waitress politely addressing us that they dont have any warm bread as i said the bread was too cold...how hard is it to serve warm bread in a fine dining restaurant?

Nice, romantic, lovely panorama view on the river and good food. And most important: Aperol Spritz at a very good price! Recommend from a venetian!

Pleasant historical location with river views if you dine outside. Excellent dishes, good service. Accordingly expensive.

If you are organising a business function I am always very impressed with this venue. Downstairs are smaller rooms. These rooms back onto the Brisbane runner where there is a brilliant outdoor area to enjoy the Brisbane river away from the busy noise of Queen Street. The room is top shelf fired Brisbane and is sure to impress. Food catering on the day was already excellent.

No direct wheelchair access (not at main entrance). I went there for high tea. The food was terrible and that’s being polite. For $60 I expected more. There was no customer service within the 2 hours I was there and when I did see staff members they were as miserable as the rain pooping down. Definitely no more high teas, simply not worth the money albeit from this place. Go back to the basics of training and development in your staff you idiots.

Beautiful building, I wish Brisbane had a few more like it to show off it's past. Staff were lovely. Canapes, delicious!!!

We had a room booking and were able to get there earlier to start decorating, and there was one wait staff allocated to our room. It was fine since we weren't in a hurry, and he was very polite and professional. The sandwiches were very generous filled, and the scones delightful. Petit fours were also very good, but lots of the same texture.

We had our civil wedding celebration on the 14.4.2018 in one of the private rooms. The view was really exceptional over the river & bridge, the waitress looked after all of the guests, excellent attention to detail, food & drinks were outstanding and well done. Excellent hospitality service and we had a good time.

Place is very nice, really enjoyed being there. Food and drink are good. Only negative point was the service, it was a little bit confused.

If you book a function just remember to call the day before and confirm your numbers. I did not do this and was made to feel a little bit terrible when our party of 10 was only 8. With that said I could have very happily enjoyed champagne by the river all afternoon.

Great dining place with amazing view and fantastic service to celebrate a special occasion. Friendly servers that really know what they’re doing. Food was not bad but the squid was too salty. Desserts are delicious

We booked Customs house for a Girlie night out to try the Winter igloos & we had a fantastic time. Cocktails, wine, food & customer service were 1st class. Plus the views of the the Brisbane River & Story bridge at night are stunning.

Company lunch where we all had the 3 course signature lunch. We had a good mix of all the options and the restaurants catered very well to 3 of us who had dietary requirements (gluten-free, dairy-free and various allergies). I had the calamari starter, barramundi main and creme brûlée dessert. All were delicious though the pork belly starter I think looked better and the other dessert choice looked more amazing. Like how the plates were nicely warmed up so your food remains warm when you are having it. Service was fantastic though it got a bit slower when more people started arriving. Amazing views and location right on the river and the ambience was just spot-on. Pricey but highly recommended.

I booked a table a month before hand to secure a table at the river front for my daughter's birthday. They gave us a table at the back. We asked to be moved but all the tables at the river front were set for couples. Why? They moved us to a table a bit closer to the front. That was a bit better but we had to push for it and we got disapproving looks from the head. She was not happy to do this for us. The food was nice but it's all about looks and price. These meals do not feed you if you are hungry. You really just need to eat with your eyes not your stomach. Is it really such a big deal to give a proper satisfying portion so that you can leave feeling satisfied and not looking for more food? For the money they charge you should leave stuffed. Obviously paying $170 for three people for a main course is not enough. You also need to buy a started and a desert and coctails to feel satisfied. Todays society is all about looks forgetting what food is meant to be about. The purpose of food is to feed us. The rest is optional. Also chefs these days think that eating meat with meat without too much sides is a great pleasure. It's not. The meals need to be balanced. Our waitress was very professional and lovely. The venue was lovely as well. It's a nice place for sure.
