The Kangaroo Point Cliffs are heritage-listed cliffs located at Kangaroo Point just across the Brisbane River from the Brisbane CBD in Queensland, Australia. A popular recreation spot, especially for climbing and running, they are conveniently close to the city and the South Bank Parklands. It can be reached by the Pacific Motorway, South East Busway or a ferry to Thornton Street ferry wharf. The cliffs were formed after stone was quarried from the site and used in the construction of a number of local structures in the Moreton Bay penal settlement.
The Kangaroo Point Cliffs were created by convicts mining the volcanic rock or ignimbrite or welded tuff which form the cliffs. These lavas and pyroclastic rocks were deposited in the Triassic Period about 230 million years ago and filled an ancient river valley. These rocks were known as porphyry and later became known as the geological unit called the Brisbane tuff.

Great place for a walk, jog, cycle. Bring my kids here often to relax on a Sunday morning. Awesome views of the river and city. Nice cafe, plenty of toilets, and plenty of wide open space at the top next to the cafe. Walk down the steep stair case and you'll find plenty of places to stop and take in the views. Actually relaxed here on Christmas morning.. that's how nice its here.

A pleasant linear park with much to recommend it. You can have a lovely stroll, looking at the city. Sunset is recommended, for the view of the sun setting in the west. You can even stop for a barbecue or picnic (though you'll need to get in early to snare one of the tables or electric barbecues). If fireworks are scheduled, this is one of the what locations in town to watch them, but you'll need to arrive hours in advance to secure your spot. Park carefully - unsigned areas have a 2 hour limit.

A great place to ride a bike and enjoy a very popular walk. Look out for lizards and rock climbers. Hire a canoe, bike, segway etc. Barberques available. Picturesque scenery. Happy to give 5 Stars.

A beautiful park right at the corner of the city. Easily accessible on foot via south bank or by ferry. The cliff side is very popular for abseiling and rock climbing etc. A good point to enjoy the sunsets overlooking the city. Popular with families for a day's outing.

Amazing place to visit natural beauty and we had fun. We had to take a 4 wheel dive but was well worth it! We also packed a hammock and our bathers. All in all a seriously great day!!

Great views of Brisbane River. Hoop Pine identification walk along with gas barbecues for public convenience. Walk down to Brisbane River common via stairs nearby. Kids playground in park. Coffee shop nearby. Definitely worth a visit to this Kangaroo Point Park.

Fantastic view of the Brisbane city scape. Would recommend going at night for the night lights. Really peaceful atmosphere and easy walks in calm weather. There are public BBQ stations and accessible public toilets.

What a great place to cycle! Is there a better place to ride than following the beautiful Brisbane River and finish with a coffee! Tip though: Cycle after peak hour so that the pedestrian work traffic is minimised.

Nice place to see the sunset. Also a nice walk from the city. I did it a couple of times and also you can listen to live music from the park opposite. Make sure you go back with the free ferry just for the experience.

Area has cliff faces to rock climb. Has some good space for the children to run around in. Good place for some nice river views and a BBQ. Has some parking at the top of the cliff across the road but it may be down to luck to get a parki ng spot at the bottom of the cliff along the river. Recommend checking this place out at night time. Great bites from the cliff top, amazing for a river side walk at night.

Beautiful location with sweeping views of the city from across the Brisbane River. The park is cool in the shadow of the cliffs. Great place to people watch as it is quite busy and there are always activities going on (rock climbing included).

If you’re looking for a challenge, a mid-day romantic picnic or a photo-op for your next fitness shoot— you’ve found it here. If you’re really looking to sweat, try the stairs or have a hand at rock climbing. It’s beautiful here from above and below!

Such a wonderful walk from the cliffs around the river boardwalks and through the Botanical Gardens. Easy walking with so much to see. Lots of coffee shops and rest points. Photo opportunities galore.

A delightful view from the hill over the river makes the perfect place to kick back to some music on the grass as you enjoy a Sunday sunset. Plenty of parking makes access easy, and the hyge grassy area makes a great place to set the kids loose to burn off energy. With food and drinks at the pub just at the top of the hill, you've chosen the right place to settle in for the afternoon.

Great place to view the city. If your on a tight schedule and have only a few places to see, then this is is one of them. Walk the 2km walk stretch to see the entire city from the captain cookmbridge to the story bridge. There is only one cafe with public toilets. Plus there are bbq facilities and many places to sit and relax. A must do in Brisbane.
