The Bristol Hippodrome (grid reference ST590729) is a theatre located in The Centre, Bristol, England, United Kingdom with seating on three levels giving a capacity of 1,951. It frequently features shows from London's West End when they tour the UK, as well as regular visits by Welsh National Opera and an annual pantomime.
The theatre was designed by Frank Matcham for Oswald Stoll, and opened on 16 December 1912. It has been designated by English Heritage as a grade II listed building. An important feature of the theatre when it opened was a huge water tank at the front of the stage, which could be filled with 100,000 gallons (450,000 litres) of water. Along with the tank was a large protective glass screen which could be raised in order to protect the orchestra and those in the stalls. It also has a dome, which can be opened when necessary; however since air conditioning has been installed it is rarely opened.

Went to see Awful Auntie, the show was superb. It was easy to find out seats. We had seats in the grand circle and we had a fantastic view. The staff are all very helpful and polite. The toilets were busy but very clean. Overall this was a fantastic experience. It gets very crowded after the show finishes with everyone trying to get out - so you either have to be fast.. or just wait in your seat for a bit and let the crowds die down before attempting to leave.

This week we have tried to book tickets for the Play That Goes Wrong. We have two children. We have seen the play before and thought our children would really enjoy it. Sadly they are only issuing a limited number of children's tickets and they have all sold out. Our children are welcome to see it but only if we pay full price. How ridiculous. So now instead of selling two adult and two children tickets you are not getting our custom. How ridiculous.

Returned to the Hippodrome for the first time last week in 6 years. Absolutely love this venue. Having left my ticket in Swindon, my first call was to the Box Office who was very helpful and polite and wasn't an issue for them to sort out for me. Front of House Staff from the Bars, Foyers and Auditorium were all very friendly, chatty, helpful and willing to help answer anything. Even during the Interval and after the show. The Bristol Hippodrome is the best Venue in the South West. Of course being an ATG Venue, their Customer service is only the best!

I've been to see many a show here. Wicked (Twice!), Funny Girl and Miss Saigon tonight. Every show has been phenomenal, and some have caused me to forget to breathe. Never underestimate Bristol Hippadrome. If a show takes your fancy, go for it! Not one to be missed.

Went to see Miss Saigon and had seats in the grand circle - seating was roomy (I'm not skinny!) and view good. Thoroughly enjoyed the visit.
