I spent the morning walking round dazzled by colour and depth of the works of the Flemish primitives: religious works, pastiches, allegories, landscapes and portraits. Each painting was worthy of consideration; sometimes accompanied by more notes than just the title/ artist in Flemish, French, German and English. Well worth the entrance fee.

Nice museum located in an historic settings. Picturesque grounds surround this entertaining gallery. Good range of paintings from the 1500s on mostly from Belgian artists. Well-stacked gift shop too.

Nice small museum. Hermiunus Bosch painting. A little too strict on not allowing women's purces in the gallery. Lockers are really confusing to use.

A gem to visit and worth the walk through the snow. Don't hesitate and just go.

Small, but renowned museum with impressive collection of Flemish masters.

Superb collection of Some of the greatest Flemish artists arranged by century. Works are astonishingly well preserved - detailed and bright. Secondary exhibition currently on Flemish bookmaking was full of superb samples accompanied by a free and excellent audio guide and a cycling movie presentation on the techniques involved. Accepts Museum Pass.

Nice exhibition, definitely worth a visit. But it needs to be noted that the regular exhibition is quite small. So better check which traveling exhibition is currently in there.

There's few that wouldn't be impressed with the Flemish primitives like Van Eyck and Memling which are shown here and it's well worth a visit just for them - albeit I found myself not really having much chance to connect with these works as teachers bullied their way to the front of paintings with school groups (may be visit outside of school hours to avoid this?). It was quieter in the rooms off - with expressionists taking centre stage - some exquisite - some not quite so. An exhibition - Haute Lecture - which looked at some stunning illuminated manuscripts was on when I was there - beautifully executed and fascinating - so if that's an indicator of other stuff they present, I'd thoroughly recommend a visit. Part of the Bruges Museum Card which is worth purchasing if you're doing the rounds

Fantastic detail within the museum, great audio facilities and super friendly staff. Only topped by the impressive artwork. Great experience and lovely grounds.

The main static displays are of the Flemish Primitives - wonderful paintings, including a Hieronymous Bosch. But the best bit for me was an exhibition about early printing. The exhibits were of extraordinary quality, the information on the displays good, and an excellent audio guide. They used a clever technique to point at items of special interest using a metal arm above the books, whose shadow pointed to the item. The exhibition is based around one man's work, which creates a personal story beside the historic one. Do visit !!

Amazing temporary exhibit of earliest Brugge printing methods. Amazing books & engravings on show. Flemish primatives wonderful. Not sure if there are usually more on display, due to temporary exhibitions. Worth checking if u are making a special visit as I was

Beautiful artwork, paintings by Jan van Eyck, Heironymus Bosch, and many others of the late 1400s and early 1500s. Many good examples of the use of linseed oil for oil painting. Also, many valuable manuscripts, great display of old manuscripts although we didn't spend much time with them. Maybe a better display than the oil paintings.

When i visited there was an expedition about books and printing. Quite interesting if you like history. Some of the volumes were quite impressive.

Interesting exhibits of course but found the layout a little confusing. We really did struggle to find what we wanted to see. However it was very well worth taking the time. Particularly enjoyed the bosch! There is a beautiful elegant small but perfectly formed spiral staircase off the entrance area. Not open to the public but it looks lovely!

Nice little museum. Unfortunately the special exhibition at the time of my visit was not very interesting for me, even though it was well made. One painting by Hieronymus Bosch is the main attraction of the permanent exhibition and well worth the entrance fee.
