The Royal Greenhouses of Laeken (French: Serres Royales de Laeken, Dutch: Koninklijke Serres van Laken) are a vast complex of monumental heated greenhouses in the park of the Royal Palace of Laeken (northern part of the City of Brussels), Belgium. The historic complex contains tropical, subtropical and cold greenhouses.
The greenhouses were designed and built by Alphonse Balat on behalf of King Leopold II. They are now part of the Royal Domain and the royal private gardens belonging to the Belgian Royal Family, and are accessible to the public only a few days a year. This site is served by Stuyvenbergh metro station on line 6 of the Brussels Metro.

If you like the intense smell of flowers, discovering exotic plants and/or Horta-like architecture, you should add it to your itinerary. It is only open 3 weeks per year, which will ensure a dense crowed will keep you company during the tour on weekends. On the plus side, it is easily reachable by transport and the entrance in 2,5 €.

A really nice place to see if you are a fan of flowers and gardening. A big collection of beautiful flowers and plants can be seen here which were brought from many countries. The garden and green houses are well maintained and you can get much more for 2.5€ (in 2018)

The walking lines are extremely poorly designed, we had to wait outside between entrances for more than 40 min and once we entered, it’s not finished, all the ways through were crowded and we needed to stop all the time cause some people wanted picture and just stood in the middle of the way. It would have been pleasant to visit but the staff only allowed one way ( so once you entered there’s no exit, you can only follow the one way instruction) so everyone ended up at the same route same place.

Very nice garden with a walking route that takes you through the greenhouses. Allot of really nice tropical flowers and trees. Worth a visit, only open couple of weeks a year around April.

A colorful and parfumed break from the noise of the city. Not only the greenhouses are great, but the surrounding park is a good place to relax, admire the trees and enjoy the smell of fresh grass. The greenhouses are a must see, especially as they are open for only a month every year. The entrance ticket is only 2.5€ for an adult. On the downside, I would love to learn more about the plants and flowers, about their origin and history; no explanations or stories are available, you can only find out the name of a plant. Secondly, it was a pitty that during 2018 season, the greenhouses were open for only a few hours during certain days; waiting time to get in in those days was about 50 min due to long queues.

Highly recommended. It is well worth the wait in line to get in on the few period in the year on which it is open to the public. My advice for a visit. Do take a camera - you will not be disappointed. Plese respect other people taking photos even if you are not taking pictures. Please respect the plants. Do not walk where you should not. Consider your child's ability to remain calm and patient throughout the long walk through the Greenhouses. There is also the heat to consider for small children and elderly people. There is a LOT to see and it is a very long way to walk. If you are unable to stay on your feet for long periods consider a portable chair or one of those chair walkers for adults so that you can take a break. A stroller for young children is also recommended. Do make sure you go to the toilet located at the entrance BEFORE you start. There are some other toilets but it could be a while before you can get to them. Do make the most of your visit as the Greenhouses open for very limited times each year.
