A museum where you can see superb exhibits. The most impressive exhibits are by far the ones belonging to the former royal families of Romania. King Carol's steel crown and her Majesty's Queen Maria jewelry collections must be seen. I also impressed the collections from the Romanian treasury; Dacian bracelets, Chicken Blanket and Dacic Coin Treasure.

Impressive museum, and the old residence of the Royal Family. Unfortunately, the most impressive part of the Royal Palace, the Throne Room is not open for visitors. This can be visited only on special events.

European art section is amazing the rest was rather nice. Good to go with kids to get them interested in such things

If every country had a museum like this, the world would be a lot more artistic! Worth a visit! I was so impressed with the romanian artists.

I wasn't expecting to see such well known artists here, and not only is the art on the wall, but the building itself is majestic.

Splendid architecture and a good taste for details in plus of art masterpieces exposed. Former royal palace

Ex Royal Palace...now a beautiful building in witch to start ...your love of arts...

The former royal palace. Interesting neo-classical building wrongly designed from the beginning. The central colonnade shouldn’t be even, imagine that the royal speaker couldn’t have been centred at the balcony. Nowadays it is the national museum of art with an impressive collection to display, however during my visit back in 2006 the staff was arrogant and kept following us, my partner just took a look at her phone to check the time, the staff started screaming that phone not allowed!!!. I hope the old staff was replaced.

It's worth taking a look. It has not only Romenian art but other styles of European art as well. Tickets are cheap and staff is helpful.

Staff lacks any kind of common sense. I was utterly displeased, to say in the least. I went to this particular museum as an art lover, looking for an enjoyable, peaceful experience, but I couldn't spend there more than one hour because of the very unprofessional attitude of the staff - I couldn't take one step without someone following me. I was feeling watched the whole time and it's truly unpleasant. I know their job is to "protect" the museum, but please teach them the manners to do so. I strongly recommend to train your staff better because art is not made to be admired while someone is breathing down your neck and following you around (if I want to ask something, I will, no need for someone to quietly follow my every step). Although the place is amazing and worth visiting, my experience here felt like jail. Oh and very, very bad lighting; you should be more careful with that because some paintings are robbed of their real artistic value.

Visiting Bucharest without seeing this place will make your visit less valuable! When you step in, take your time, don't rush! You won't regret!

Beautiful collections, with Romanian and international artists. Don't forget to also admire the building which is historical and beautiful renovated.

The best 4 Euros you can spend in Bucharest. It only takes about an hour to see so it's great for kids

Nice enough Museum. Entry tickets can only be purchased by cash. The apartments are only open on certain days.

Very interesting and educational exposition. I really enjoyed my visit here and I learned a lot about the traditional Christian iconography of this lands and about the most important names in Romania's modern art. I also enjoyed a lot the wing with the collection of European classical art. It includes paintings by Luca Signorelli, El Greco, Rembrandt, Rubens, some of the French impressionists and more. I was really glad to see there the four seasons by Pieter Brueghel the Younger. The interior of this wing is very lavish and grandiose, worth looking at. Overall my visit there was very pleasant. If you go to Bucharest I highly recommend this museum.

Interesting place, they have new expositions once in a while, however you get to see some very old Romanian and European art
Alexandra StemateJuni 30, 2018
Can you give me the possibility to add some stars to my review? This museum is unbelievable, more that impressive, more than exceptional, it's a testimonial about the Romanian old and new beautiful arts - sculpture, painting, collage, tapestry, iconography, religious and historical artifacts and so on. I think that I've stayed there three, maybe four hours but, as I've told you, it deserved each second! I'm speechless and I make serious efforts to write something about my experience - a great opportunity to spend some time in a very pleasant way, believe me!

Apart from the fact that it hosts the most impressive collections of national arts, the building also represents the former royal residence. The museum of the royal palace is available for visiting in certain days of the week, shown on the website. The architecture of the chambers are impressive and photographs don't make it justice. It's something that you have to see yourself.

The National Art Museum is interesting and rich in Romanian art. The museum provides audio guide just for the Medieval Gallery but in each room( of the Medieval part) there are informational leaflets. The European Art is not as rich as the National Gallery but still worth visiting.

Wonderfull building! Apart from the permament collection in the courtyard there are specific fairs, not only for Easter or Christmas. The museum shop is packed with romanian items, great gifts, cheaper than in the Old Town area.
