The Theodor Aman Museum is a museum in Bucharest dedicated to the life and work of Romanian painter, engraver and art professor Theodor Aman.
The building that currently houses the museum was constructed in 1868, and is located between the Romanian Athenaeum and the Memorial of Rebirth. The building served as Aman's workshop and private residence until his death in 1891. The house was converted into a museum in 1908, and has since then remained stylistically untouched.

The building is a unique example of 19th century neo-classical. It housed the first artists studio in the country, which is well preserved. The museum has an excellent collection of crafted furnishings and paintings by Th. Aman. It's a small museum so I would definitely recommend take the time to visit if around the area.

I like to think this is the house where modern România was born or at least the idea of a modern state. All the important people of the 19th century were the guest of Theodor Aman, the famous Romanian painter. Here, they have grown inside their hearts the passion needed to break the chains of the Ottoman ruling and to build a new eliberated state. More on this topic you can find by simply asking the guide for more details about the house. I guarantee that everything will change for you after you’ll hear the stories. Only the ground floor is available for visits, so the time spent here will be around 30-40 minutes.

Very good visiting destination for foreigners as for locals. A step into the Romanian history of art. Decorated rooms and a large part of the artist's paintings. You can discover some other paintings in The National Museum of Art on Victoriei Boulevard. There is an interactive QR code guide and you can discover more online.

Must see ! This is one of the most charming museums of old Bucharest ! The house itself is magnificent and it belonged to one of the greatest Romanian painters of all times. The building dates back to 1869 and was erected by the design of Theodor Aman himself. It contains a lot of his paintings together with the original furniture also sculpted by the painter himself. The art collection includes many remarkable art objects, musical instruments and beautiful Spanish furniture from the 17th century, original from the house and very well preserved. Theodor Aman also designed the outer decorations of the memorial house, the highlights of which refer to the sculptural works representing Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci.
