The Romanian Athenaeum (Romanian: Ateneul Român) is a concert hall in the center of Bucharest, Romania and a landmark of the Romanian capital city. Opened in 1888, the ornate, domed, circular building is the city's main concert hall and home of the "George Enescu" Philharmonic and of the George Enescu annual international music festival.
I attended a performance here with my family and it was amazing. The theater, the acoustics, and the talent were all world class. I HIGHLY recommend attending an event here. You won't regret it. The facilities have been well maintained and any /all upgrades that they have done blend in seamlessly. The bathrooms are also quite clean and well maintained.
Very beautiful place. Amazing audition and cosy and comfortable sitting. Tickets can be bought on the left side as you look at the main entrance.
We visit the interior of the Athenaeum. By chance was an excelente violinist practicing in the hall. Very beautiful building. Can be visit from 14:00 to 18:00. Cost 10 Lei. Go to the side entry.
The music sounds excellent in this extremely beautiful concert hall that was built in 1888. The architecture is typical for an age that really characterized Romania's true splendor, and the building was the meeting site for the group of representatives that voted the ratification of thr Union of the Romanian Principalities in 1919. The Athenaeum has been restored in 1992 and can host 652 spectators in its large hall that is wonderfully decorated with a circular fresco depicting Romania's entire history in its most meaningful moments. The neoclassical (with some romantic touches) really complements the artistic nature of the place, and the building is definitely one that all Romanians should be proud of, part of our country's artistic heritage and, since 2007, part of the European Heritage sites. Tickets are generically cheap, but they have to be reserved one week in advance by calling the number on the site.
Nice place. Nice events. Does not accept card payments in 2018 :(
we got there in the morning. so no concert was played. there is no official tours guide but for 10 LEI per person you will get a short visit in the building which is very impressive. the person who guide us didn't know English but was very welcoming. i think this is worth its price. the big bonus was that we could see the repetitions for concert with out any other audience. highly recommended to come at the morning to see the building
I visited the place because it's where the Btrip Bucharest's free walking tour started from. The place is reserved really well and it has a nice garden too! Our guide let us know that the building was one of the buildings clearly build to differentiate Romanian people from the Ottoman empire because many didn't like the connection they had, after so many years of being occupied by them.
Fine acoustics. Building has a wonderful architecture and inside, in the great concert hall, the circular wall has a magnificent painting which depicts the important moments of Romanian history.
Beautiful architecture. Very interesting programs for children in weekends. The Festival George Enescu is a world class event.

You need to ask the locals to show you the entrance
An example of Romans like architecture. An amazing building perfect for opera purpose. Excellent location, beautiful inside and impressive outside. The acoustic inside is perfect and the welcoming in very warm. You won't regret a visit here.
Beautiful landmark in Bucharest. It was recently renovated, but the historical architecture was maintained. If you are looking for a classical music concert, this is the place to visit. You should try to book your tickets in advance, as most of the times, the concert hall is sold out.
Amazing architecture. Did not manage to visit inside. The whole architecture was so massive that you need to take pictures slightly further away to see the dome. Recommend to attend a concert if you have time.
Beautiful historical hall with wonderful acoustics. I love the story of Romania painted around the top and the design. Allows you to step back in time when this was the center of entertainment.
An amazingly ornate concert hall. 10 lei entry from the right hand side of the building. Recommended
Such a beautiful place. Great paintings and artifacts. We were sorry that we could not catch any live concert But ... next time :)
One of the most beautiful theaters we’ve ever been in. It’s has great acoustics and there’s hardly a bad location to sit in. If you can’t see a concert there take the tour. It’s definitely worth seeing this place.
