Borkonyha is one of the Michelin-starred restaurants in Budapest that is a MUST GO! I ordered the veal as a main course and it did not disappoint - likely the best main course on the menu. In addition, there was a surprise mini starter by the chef. Even the homemade butter and bread was delicious! The staff were very courteous and attentive. Definitely would recommend a visit here anytime you're in Budapest!
The food is truly fantastic; especially the pigeon -- and the wine is not so shabby either. Worth a trip. We were lucky to get a table without having a reservation.
The best part of the restaurant was the service - the waiter was phenomenally patient and helpful. The food was well prepared and beautiful to look at and although not particularly exciting it offers a nice selection of traditional Hungarian food and local wine pairings. They do not offer cocktails or soft drinks other than grape juice / water.
Food is absolutely amazing. Combination of tastes are superb. Staff are extremely professional. Only down side is we had a choice of 6pm or 9pn sitting only. Went for the 6pm as had work the next day and felt the service was way too quick. Overall, an amazing menu. Plus, wine selection was great.
We had an amazing lunch at Borkonyha. The staff were super friendly, and even in advance, they were helpful and responsive in trying to find a time that we could visit. We had not planned well - and asked for a dinner table for 5 w/less than 48 hours notice. That said, we were able to get seated at a late lunch and enjoy the fabulous Budapest gem. The Menu of the Day was extra ordinary. Fresh preparation, exquisite ingredients, and mouth watering look and taste. Between the five of us, we ate nearly exclusively off of their specials menu, and were not disappointed. The Celeriac and truffle soup we tried had the softest, richest flavour we've ever had with a soup of this nature. The desserts were vibrant, fresh, and complex in flavour and presentation. The only thing keeping from a five star review: at least two of the staff (mgmt? )were behind the bar during the lunch hour, on their cell phones the entire time. Slightly disappointing to see - a knock on the ambience. Amazing value - this was one of the best values I've ever had for such a high quality meal.
