A fabulous day out for children and adults alike. On a cold February day the zoo was really very quiet and many of the animals were in their encloses rather than out in the open, but access to view them inside was generally good. This zoo has given my family the most close animal encounters that they have ever experienced. The children particularly liked walking in amongst the Lemurs. A really special experience, with some definite advantages to visiting in the quiet winter months.

We visited in November. Beautiful zoo with a lot for variety. Even in the colder months there is much to see. Affordable ticket costs. Restaurants and coffee shacks throughout. You can get much much closer to some of the animals than what you might normally in the United States which was amazing. I'll bet it's super beautiful in the spring and summer time. I especially enjoyed their emus, they had quite the personalities. :^)

Lovely large zoo with historical buildings. Located in the city park easily accessible by the old fashioned metro line. The zoo contains a wide variety of animals including polar bears, gorillas and koalas. Special features of the zoo include an unusual elephant house and a large tropical house. Also a science exhibition with some live animals in the great rock called magic mountain. Can take a whole day to see everything.

The zoo was great and it had a lot of species all around the world. I spent 2 hours and I absolutely loved it but I believe that you MUST spent at least 4 or 5 hours to see all the animals and plants of the zoo. It is a great experience for those who love animals.

Visited here in February 2018 with family. My first recommendation would be - don't visit in winter! Most of the "cool" parts of the zoo are outdoors, and its just too darn cold in winter for many of the animals to be hanging outside. Plus I imagine everything will be in better shape during the summer. Apart from that, the architecture in the zoo is pretty nice, but the condition of some exhibits/habitats for the animals is a bit dismal, to be honest. A lot of muddy pathways, dirty cages/shelters, and general disrepair on some of the exhibits. 99% of the exhibits are in Hungarian only, so if you like to read text/descriptions and don't speak the language, you're out of luck. Our favorite part was the tropical/American exhibit, which was indoors and full of some cool animals. Bad parts were all the nocturnal exhibits (they're inside, completely dark, without any sort of blacklights to help navigate - not quite sure what you're supposed to do in them because they're really too dark to see the animals clearly at all) Also the Africa exhibit is pretty weak (a bunch of sleeping lions hiding in the corners and one hyena). Ahh well. I'm glad we went but honestly we won't go back, and I couldn't really recommend the zoo over others I've been to in Europe/the U.S.

Definitely worth it! We first though that it will take us few hours, however this is so marvelous zoo that we stayed almost whole day there. Everything was flowering and beautiful. Animals have enough space and whole zoo looked calm and welcoming. Since it has so many different kinds of animals it took us really long to go and see every one. Just be prepared to take your own water /food. They sell water there however it is in glass and heavy to walk with such bottle around. Food, they sell food but the quality is corresponding to quantity. I think home made sandwich would be better. Nevertheless, they have ice-cream or fresh KĂŒrtĆsh, so little treats for everyone. Recommend this place.

A really nice zoo with many different types of animals. Many of the settings are naturalistic and you can get fairly close to some of the animals. When we went it seemed like every animal had a baby. We saw baby giraffes, elephants, wart hogs and more. The zoo is bigger than it looks from the outside. One of my favorites was the Kea, a parrot from New Zealand. They love to interact with people. At less than $10 per adult it seemed reasonable. I might just go again!

It is the best zoo in Europe. A lot of stuff to visit. Entertaining trip. You can be educated about animals. Also there is life show with the animals. In the part where the bats are, it is very creepy and scary because they fly above your head and can touch you. The thing i didn't like it at all was the way they treated the rhino. The rhino was in a small cage and was crying. The zoo is a must see.

This is one of the best compact Zoo I have been to. The environment created for animals are next to real jungle and beautiful. Good collection of animals, fishes and reptiles. If you are travelling with kids this is a must visit place as they will love the Zoo and also love the children's play park outside the Zoo

So we went to spend the afternoon last Monday... And we had to realize that a whole day is too short to see all the sights and try all the exhibitions! There's animals, with feeding and playing programs for most of them, but there's also interactive exhibitions and all kinds of stuff! Such a lovely experience, I especially enjoyed strolling between the flying foxes (big bats, they can fly about you, but they are chill) and the interactive exhibitions. I wish the butterfly house was open - only in the summer though.

A wonderful zoo, well marked, often also in English. The vast selection of animals look very well looked after and the zoo staff clearly love what they do. Well designed to allow everyone to see the animals safely while respecting the animals themselves. Ample play areas and drink / snack options. Very easily accessible from the centre of the city.

One of the best zoos I have ever seen. It's huge, colorful. Entrance fee is correct, of course food inside is a bit expensive. They are always upgrading it! It has a big ans super playground for the children. It's easy to access with public transportation, parking is a bit complicated. If you are in Budapest and you like animals it's s a have to see!

A diverse selection of animals in a well laid out map, this zoo gives visiters a chance to see a variety of animals from all over the world. In some cases you can get quite close to the animals, in most cases it's best to keep a distance. But the elephants, the lemurs, the birds, the rhinos, the giraffes, the gorillas, and much more were all there to greet visitors. The baby elephant and the baby gorilla were adorable. Yes, it may be sad to see these majestic beasts in captivity, but they looked well-treated.

Was nice to see animals of different continent. There was bunch from domestic places so of not much interest. Couple of parts were closed down or under renovation some were empty cages. Walk tour is good and nicely done compared to 10 years ago. Best experience is giraffe feeding for sure for both adults and children. Polar bears were playing nice and lively in front of you. Kids of few years enjoy the zoo more than 1 or two years. Horror prices for food and drink so prepare or pay. It was worth. Three star goes for inflexible prices and options of payment, renovations, lack of bonus card acceptance closed down parts, and animal selection. As I said I would have wanted to see more animals from Asia, Africa, South America. Lots of vending for animal food do not work and it is annoying.

Exactly how a zoo is supposed to be. Different animals from around the world in one place. There's also facilities access for disabled people. A really a great place for family to spend a day out. Food, toilet, play ground and fair prices for ticket. You will need a whole day to be able to check everything. You can also guarantee that you will get proper weather depending on the season you visit the zoo.

Overall very pleasant experience! The zoo is much bigger than I thought and have nice environment where the animals can actually enjoy their life. I love how many varieties of species this zoo offer. Very eye-opening! Would be better if they have more English introductions tho.

A really worthwhile site to do in Budapest. The animals are well kept and maintained, the gardens are well cultivated, its is a beautiful park of the city... sat in the corner of a splendid park. Fairly reasonably priced. Lots to see: tortoise, lions, tigers and bears... oh my!
