Zultan was such a great tour guide! He was lively and animated, funny and full of knowledge. Thank you Zultan for giving me and my husband a good experience in Budapest :)
Starting in a beautiful central part of Pest, one of free walking tour's guide, David, took us all through the most iconic and beautiful main parts of Pest, before guiding us over the chain bridge to Buda, up to the castle, and the viewing area. Tour guides are friendly, highly knowledgable and interesting. The tour lasts for a good 3ish hours, and really flies by - and based on tips, this tour is great for everyone who's happy to walk around Budapest. I would recommend everyone to see some of Budapest's best spots this way. 5 stars!
Fantastic experience, we took 3 tours with this company in total, 2 free ones: general tour and Jewish tour, also a paid pub crawl. All our guides are awesome! David, Petrisher (might wrongly spelled) and Andras, they are very knowledgeable and humorous, they took good care of the group and were very patient with every single question from us. Extremely happy and satisfied with these tours, highly recommended!!!!
I did the original walking tour and returned for the Communism tour and highly recommend it! My tour guide, Valerie, was very well educated as a local who had lived some of her life before the turn of independence. She had so much insight and brought the information to life. She also gave suggestions of how to learn even more about the topic around the city at certain museums and memorials. Feel free to ask questions on these tours so that you get even more out of it. Highly recommend!
We had a great tour with Lila (I think that was her name). Very friendly and informed guide took us to all the major sites
Guides very knowledgeable. A brief history and walk of city they have both 'Buda' side tour and 'Pest'. Good to get your bearings for the city too
I did two tours with Free Budapest Walking Tours and would recommend both! I did the street art tour with Barbi, which was so much fun! There were so many murals that I hadn't noticed walking around on my own, and it was fun to have them pointed out and learn a bit more about their meaning and about the regulations on street art in Budapest. I also did the communism tour with Agie, which was also excellent. I really enjoyed learning about how residents were affected by communism, and Agie did a great job making the information about every day people over statistics, etc. Thanks for two great tours!!
I did two tours. The general walking tour is a great way to get orientated in the city. We had quite a large group so was a good crowd to meet other travellers to chat to. Our guide was Suzanna (forgive the spelling). She was great, really informative and funny, rather than the usual corny guide you can get on these kind of tours. Did a good job of keeping everyone together and getting us all involved. The general tour is pretty fast paced and energetic, but I went back to walk through the castle when the tour finished in the district. Tours are free, but well worth tipping your guide around €10 or 3500ft per person. I also did the ruin bar tour on a Saturday night which was brilliant. Just 4000ft for four hours of touring four bars with four shots and all entrance fees with no queuing. We had a great group of people from all over the world and we experienced a Hungarian rock show, a crazy cavernous club, and bars where we could sit around chatting and putting the world to rights. Our guide Yannos (spelling?) was hilarious. He knows everyone in all the bars from being a bartender and has all the insider knowledge. He even walked most of us home to our hotels along with his dog and hung out with us while we ate 300ft pizza slices at 1am. Thanks for a great night and would recommend to anyone!
Great tour even tho it was lashing rain! The tour guide Adam was very enthuastic, fun and I gained alot of knowledge about the city of budapest! Thanks very much and Id highly reccommend doing this tour.
Had such a great tour with our guide, Eddie! The tour included many beautiful sights and a lot of useful information for travelers. Ended the 2:30 tour on Castle Hill and all the lights made for some amazing pictures. Definitely recommend this tour!
I did the "Original" tour while visiting Budapest on my own for a few days. Our tour guide was Zoltán and he was great! He was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. The tour gave a really good overview of the city and the key sights. Zoltán also told us a lot about the history and culture of Budapest. I would certainly recommend this tour! A tip: Don't buy anything from the café where the tour makes its stop - overpriced and very rude staff. However, they are not associated with the tour company so it's not their fault.
We took the Communism Tour, and despite seemingly being the least popular of the free walking tours it was very engaging and informative. Our guide Aggie was fantastic, she related her personal experiences which we found especially profound given the history is so recent. We would recommend more people branch out and take the communism tour- it is very unique!
Cannot be missed! Really helpful for making the first contact with the city, with a local. Despite the cold weather the tour was enjoyable, full of history and fun facts you can't find anywhere else. Also at the end there are some very important survival tips for visitors. Our tour guide was eager to answer all questions and was very friendly. Maybe some more time and talk could be spent around the Palace area. (Tour guide: Agnes)
