The Alvear Palace Hotel is a luxury hotel located in Avenida Alvear in Recoleta, an upscale neighbourhood in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The hotel was inaugurated in 1932 and, following extensive refurbishment, was reinaugurated in 1994.
Four, Not Five-Star We supposedly had a King Deluxe Room; it looked out on roofs and was very strangely shaped. Unable to use the handheld shower; bidet was a waterfall waiting to happen. Room still not made up at 3 pm; we called and the desk asked us why this mattered to us. (We had the "Make up Room sign out all day.) Well, it mattered because it was 95 and we wanted to take a siesta along with everyone else in the hotel. P.S. the maids were well tipped by us. ??? Wifi kept fading out in the room. Good points: Public areas are palatial and baroque; breakfast and tea were quite nice and service was excellent. The rooftop bar was lots of fun. Stay somewhere else and go to tea and the rooftop bar.
Visited for afternoon tea. The staff were initially rather rude - the whole point of a five star is the service, this is a memo they hadn't received. After we actually sat down, food was fab, waiting staff were helpful and friendly and environment was lovely. Well worth a visit.
Great hotel great services. Nice high tea. Nice relaxing lounge. Some funny smell like gas fumes at breakfast. Asked to move away from smell and staff was accommodating. Great consierge. Pardon my spelling.
I would readily recommend this hotel and suggest you make use of the rooftop bar and pool. Both are really nice, but it’s the view that makes it exceptional. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were lux. My room had very little natural light, with relatively narrow windows and a view of an adjacent building that was at most 10 feet away. Also, the shower was kinda jenky. It was missing the door handle and had a shower head in need of replacement because it had mostly turned a funky green. I arrived early after an overnight flight and was up-sold to a more expensive room because they told me I’d ha e to wait hours for the room type I had reserved. Hmmm...
Great staff, excellent service. Classy room, everyone spoke incredible English, breakfast was delicious. Highly recommend.
If you have one place to stay for a night or two and you want to reward yourself, then this is the place to stay. Excellent service, very nice rooms and great breakfast buffet in the morning, It's a well deserved place to stay when one is traveling a lot and you deserve to treat yourself to something great!
Wonderful hotel in BA which is meticulously maintained and staffed. Terrific indoor pools and gym. Would be a $1500 hotel in Europe, easy.
