The necropolis of Tuvixeddu (pronounced [tuviˈʒeɖːu]) is a Punic necropolis, one of the largest in the Mediterranean. It is located in a hill inside the city of Cagliari, Sardinia called Tuvixeddu (meaning "hill of the little holes" in Sardinian).
Between the 6th and 3rd centuries BC the Carthaginians chose this hill to bury their dead: these burials were reached through a well dug into the limestone rock (from two to eleven meters deep), a small opening introduced to the burial chamber. The burial chambers were beautifully decorated; there were found amphorae and ampoules for the essences. Of particular interest among the Punic tombs, the "Uraeus Tomb" and the "Fighter Tomb", decorated with paintings of palm trees and masks, still well preserved. Another famous tomb is that "of the Wheel".

A somewhat sombre historical place. Take a walk through ancient graveyard, as the signs tell the tales of old. All signs are in Italian and English, and it is free to visit. There are guided tours, but those are only in Italian.

Tuvixeddu is one of the biggest phoenician necropolis in all Mediterranean area. Is a must see in Cagliari! It's a beautiful place because is over an hill so you get to see all Cagliari. And also you get to walk in the middle of the sardinian vegetation

Great to walk around and see the extensive burial system that dates back to 600BC - it's free to visit, but a shame that there is not slightly more information available at the site. However, if you're visiting Cagliari this is a must see.

This is a wonderful place to visit for its historic significance There is an expensive road within the walls but NO signposting as you approach A detailed map from the civic information centre gave a bus number but staff there insisted on another bus What they did not say was that a 25 minute walk from Yenne gets you there Corso Vittorio Emanuel 11 into Viale Trento walk along past shops and villas to Via Zara and turn right up the hill Then it is left along Via Falzarego and the entrance is at the end of the street

It's very interesting if you like ancient sites, and it's free. Hard to find because the locals don't seem to know where it is, even the bus drivers. Take the number one bus to trento, there is a big market there on Sunday morning, take via zara and turn left at the top. Also see the Temple of the vipers in viale savendrace.
