A HUGE Thank you to Anna and all the lovely staff at the Aquarium. We recently organised for our daughter to have her birthday party at the Aquarium and the entire day surpassed any exceptions that myself and all who attended had. From the restaurant staff who were so friendly, helpful, efficient and accommodating to Matilda, our personal guide. Matilda had the patience of a saint with the kids, was very knowledgeable and was just an absolute pleasure to spend time with. Every person who attended was wowed by your staff, the restaurant – food and staff, Matilda and in general the way that we all felt welcomed and appreciated. So, thank you for that. I know that we all had a ball and all of us will be back.
Was gifted a family pass for Xmas and we all love it. Have visited multiple times and always enjoy walking around, also happy,Knowledgeable and friendly staff who show a passion for what they do. Can get a bit crowded at times but is completely expected. A must visit if visiting Cairns or even a local looking for a few hours out.
Better than a trip to the reef! Go here instead! Cheaper, safer for you and the environment, and you see way more. As a local returning after some time away, it was awesome to see an aquarium in Cairns. I was expecting it to be much smaller but there's lots of exhibits and a huge variety of environments and animals to view up close. Definitely recommend - worth the ticket price!
Fantastic aquarium, huge selection of exhibits, great for children. My only gripe is that they never have enough staff on front counter & wait times to get in are quite long. Good value if you purchase the annual pass
Great place for a young family. If your kids are 12years or older they may not enjoy it as much. This place is great for Cairns and can see that in time it will have a larger amount of marine life to display, at the moment it’s limited. I have a 1yo and 3yo and they love the place. The annual pass is perfect for us.
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Cairns Aquarium. Nicely laid out with an excellent variety of fresh water and salt water fish life. The insect and reptile tanks made a nice addition too. It was especially nice to see the newly introduced whitetip sharks. It could take you weeks to locate and view all the marine life in their natural environments. Relaxing and informative - it took us about 3 hours to wander through looking properly at all the tanks and listening to one presentation. I would definitely recommend a trip to this aquarium for persons of any age.
Finally got the chance to take my daughter. And I was hugely Impressed that they are at this level for such a young aquarium. I’m sure they will continue to grow and improve their displays as time goes on. On saying that we spent 4 hours there before we knew it and loved it. I’ll let you know abut the restaurant on our next visit as I upgraded our entry tickets at the end of the day to a family pass. Looking forward to many more visits.
Great location. Didn’t have much wow factor like other aquariums, but still good variety. Would have appreciated feeding time info upon arrival. Restaurant is a little pricey.
Beautifully arranged with nice things to see just not quite the range of things to see for the admission price. The aquatic life handling area is the highlight and the staff member was very friendly. Having some more live shows like at underwater world on the sunshine coast would help to enhance the experience and longevity of visitors stay.
We had a really great time at the cairns aquarium! It is a smaller aquarium, but the design and quality is outstanding. Definitely schedule your visit to catch the presentations and shows that are held throughout the day. They are entertaining and informative! The staff here were great and you could tell they cared about what they were doing. Overall a small but really great aquarium! Make sure to bring a student or concession card to save some money on the entry cost!
Really enjoyed my trip to the Aquarium! Lots to see and do. The presentations were fun and informative. The staff are very friendly and knowledgable. All in all a great experience!!
Small but great place to go. For people expecting to see all types of fishes around world, or big reptiles like crocodile - please do not go. For people love to see and learn more about local aquatic animals, please go - but go early not to miss presentations Personally this place is beautiful and well presented; also provides great chance to see and learn about local aquatic animals. Additionally, Loved the chance to see and talk about turtle rehab (with extra cost of $10- but happy with this because I believe they will spend this on the rehab). I loved; I spend hours with great joy! However, Once again, If you are expecting world class aquarium, this may be not the place you should go; I would suggest you to wait until visit Sydney or bigger city and bury yourself in crowds.
Such a cool place to see and experience the marine life ! It has VERY knowledgeable staff who are very passionate about sharing information about all the types of marine creatures and the environment they live in. Well worth a seeing if you are visiting Cairns or even a local. Kids love it and big kids 2.!! Go for it.. 😎
Wow, what a fantastic venue to explore the Reef and River/creek underwater environs from the safety of dry land. On a wet Sunday afternoon, we visited the relatively new (9 months old), Cairns Aquarium. Although I initially balked at the steep price of $42 per adult, this was certainly 3 hrs of well satisfied viewing pleasure into all kinds of Aquarium life, there was plenty of marine life in all facets from creeks and rivers all the way through to the deep sea and Reef marine life. They also had displays of frogs, Lizards, snakes and other reptiles. Although I didn't see any large turtles there were a few smaller examples, and there is also a tour of the turtle rehabilitation centre, for an additional fee. They had a display of some baby crocodiles, which we encountered during feeding time, there was also a few other talks at nearby aquariums scattered around the morning. The 10 metre tall, deep sea/Reef tank could keep you amused for hours, but all in all, a very informative display, and i congratulate the staff and owners on a great facility here in Cairns.
Small aquarium, but done nicely. For a little extra you can get a behind the scenes tour; well worth it. We have a very nice tour to lean how the aquarium works, and how the animals are taken care of. If you go make time for the tour.
