A must do if you are in the area! Took the "Skyrail" cableway up (which was quite nice) but the train was amazing. It is just as stunning in terms of the views as it is interesting historically. Great on-board talk and easy navigation. Worth the money. Only reason it wasn't five stars was because they cram you in a bit. Should really be three per bench rather than four, but I guess that is a result of popularity. Windows were blocked by selfish tourists who spent more time looking on their phones (not taking photos) than actually looking out the window. No consideration!

On most search engines, it lists this and one of the top 10, 20, 25 things to do in Australia. First, book 1st class if you can (I thought we had...) otherwise, you're in a railcar beyond hot, with a window open and very little breeze. I gotta be honest, The views weren't that great. there was spots were there was nice views, but most of it, you're in packed forests areas, or looking at dirt cutouts in the earth going by your window. Now, we didn't do the Gondola back - I'm sorry, after the train ride, I was not impressed, and I'm sure the gondola would have been better, but I didn't really trust the claims after that. Also, we wanted to spend some time in the town. I'd say that was the best part of the trip. The Town of Kuranda. There's great shops, great food, and a animal park there. It's worth getting off the train, and then skipping the direct trip back on the Gondola to spend some time in the town.

The 1hr30 train ride through the tropical rain forest felt like 15mins because we loved every sections of it. Truly spectacular views of the rain forest, the valleys below and the vista of the coastline. There were many twists and turns & tunnels, making this ride on the historic train a memorable and enjoyable experience - a must do if you're in Cairns.

Impressive views, interesting story and worth wile a trip up there. However would recommend to improve the volume level to be higher and recorded guide voice to speak clearer. Couldn't hear some of the parts due to some open windows and general train noise. Also, the train was late by more than an hour to leave the station to Kuranda. Messed up the rest of my day as I had activities planned. KSR and the tour operator declined a refund to me.

I went on the train a couple of years ago and it was beautiful. Still is a very pleasant and informative trip. Hope of half way and enjoy the view. Must do when visiting Cairns. It goes yo Karanda, another must. Beautiful market atmosphere

Super boring and really overpriced! Pretty much just a standard train ride to a quite town. Sky rail was good, but it for $120

A really nice station with a great feel. One of the only stations I know of that has tables and chairs on the platform. It also has a very long platform!
