The Mosque of Qani-Bay is a mosque in Cairo, Egypt. The complex is named after Qani-Bay al-Sayfi, nicknamed "al-Rammah", who was Grand Master of the Horse during the reign of Sultan al-Ghuri. It was built between AD 1503 and 1504 (AH 908) on a hill watching over the hippodrome and Mosque-Madrassa of Sultan Hassan. The site was chosen since the horse market and stables of the Citadel were originally located just off the square.

Considered as the most distinguished islamic architectural design The Mosque-Madrassa of Sultan Hassan is a massive mosque and madrassa located in the Old city of Cairo, it was built during the Mamluk Islamic era in Egypt. Its construction began 757 AH/1356 CE with work ending three years later "without even a single day of idleness". At the time of construction the mosque was considered remarkable for its fantastic size and innovative architectural components. Commissioned by an-Nasir Hasan, a sultan of a short and relatively unimpressive profile, al-Maqrizi noted that within the mosque were several "wonders of construction".The mosque was, for example, designed to include schools for all four of the Sunni schools of thought: Shafi'i, Maliki, Hanafi and Hanbali.
Considered the first school in history to teach the four doctrines of islam simultaneously . It served as both a school and a mosque . Sadly , it needs much restoration and care as its current state of being doesn't match its great history .
It's just awesome how you feel small when you see the 37 walls of the mosque
This grand mosque is breath taking. When looking at how old this structure is, absolutely mind blowing. A must see!
A really great structure reflecting the thriving of islamic culture through the midlle east by its elegant design , but I really wish if the place is cared of more
Sultan Hassan School is one of the famous archaeological mosques in Cairo. It is described as Durrat Islamic Architecture in the east. The most important monuments of Cairo are the harmony and harmony of the Mamluk architecture. It was established by Sultan Hassan ibn al-Nasir Muhammad ibn Qalawun during the period from 757 AH / 1356 AD to 764 AH / AD 1363 during the reign of the Mamluks of Egypt.
It is the most relieving place I have ever visited.
Don't miss it, one of the greatest construction in Islamic world, unique
A beautiful example of islamic archaeology as one of the biggest mosques in egypt ... its right behind the castle of saladin and you can see the mosque from the walls of the castle ... and its also next to the mosque of el refaa'i
Visiting the souk, you will be impressed by this well preserved memlouk mosque. In the calm and serinity you will appreciate building dรฉcoration details, wood works and walls holly inscription.
