Although very kind, the staff was also vwey useless and even a bit rude. Maybe it is due to our late arrival, but still it would not have hurt them if they have had let us see the bridge
Took the Highlights of Cambridge walk with guide Rosalind who was a fount of knowledge. On a very hot day she paced the walk well and found shady spots for our tour to stop and absorb the sights. I really found the hour and a half a great pleasure.
Avoid Cambridge. It's overcrowded and full of big groups of rude international students with their teachers attending conferences. Especially avoid Cambridge if travelling on The Cam in a narrow boat or Cruiser. Moorings are very limited and poorly maintained. Avoid Jesus Green Lock moorings which are very dirty with a number of permanently moored boats taking up the short stay moorings. The area has a lot of homeless, drunk and drug-affected people sleeping rough and louts causing trouble. Our boat was untied and pushed into the stream by a gang in the middle of the night. They thought it was a great prank but it could have been very dangerous. It's clear that the River Cam authorities do not want visitors travelling on their river.
Unhelpful staff who rush you even when it's quiet and barely gave any useful information. We found a lot more on our own throughout the day in the centre of town which the staff failed to mention. They should be useful and annotate the maps and not try and charge you £2.50 for them! Also they said you couldn't take photos of the maps (which I was going to annotate over on my phone to make life easier) which makes absolutely no sense because once bought, people might do that anyway! This visitors centre needs a huge overhaul. It's like the national express bus station equivalent of visitor centres!
A great space and facility built into the old city offices that dominate the market square. The law courts are a hidden gem. The only problem is the signposting and it is not at all obvious how to find it - even for locals
Longish queue but the staff are very good. Great ideas. Efficient and friendly.
The staff was even so helpful and the walking tours are really worth it to join in. The tour I took was kings college and the backs and the guide was knowledgeable and told us unique things about Cambridge.
Maggie was a fantastic and awesome tour guide. She was informative, passionate and witty. I highly recommend her tour for Kings College and back.
Beautiful place. Beautiful buildings, lots of museums. Punting on the river. Cows wandering in the park. A brilliant town with loads of fantastic shops and eating places. A fab little market in the market Square.
