Музей Фицуильяма (англ. Fitzwilliam Museum) — музей искусств и истории при Кембриджском университете в городе Кембридж (Великобритания).
I love this place! Best place in Cambridge! And the cafe and shop are first rate. There are lockers for coats and packages. Get unburdened, get fed, then get going on an awesome cultural hour or 2. Or more, depending on your stamina. Like paintings, pottery, artifacts, glass, Chinese? I usually go to the rooms that interest me the most first, then browse if time. I could easily spend a half day here. Great for rainy days. Park in the city car parks and walk in. Or bus. I wouldn't recommend driving into Cambridge.
Fine collection of antiquities including some really excellent paleolithic artworks. Also has an eclectic art collection including a few delightful Stanley Spencer. Its surprisingly large underground - make sure not to miss anything.
I am surprised. I thought it’s gonna be boring. But I was wrong! I actually enjoyed it more than natural history museum in London. Loads of things from ages ago, beautiful paintings and that Degas theme exhibition brilliant! Admission is free (I donated a £5 but it’s not mandatory). I could spend there all day. Very interesting.
Great place to visit. One of my favourite museums in the world. The painting galleries are spectacular as you can observe the paintings remarkably close. The arms collection is fun to see with the kids, a shop has loads of things they will like.
one of the most outstanding museums in England outside of London, I've been several times and I've always managed to find something new and inspiring on each visit. a place you can get lost in without feeling lost at all
Very good for all ages, with a very pleasant cafe. Easy to spend a day and particularly good special collections. 5 mins from Kings College so easy to do both in 1 day.
Some fantastic collections with thoughtfully created exhibits to accommodate visitors of all ages (and heights!). Attentive, knowledgeable staff. Fascinating armoury. Secure bag storage available and coat check in also available. The building is superb, the internal architecture is an attraction on its own! Bright cafe with good light snack choices. A must when you're visiting Cambridge.
Wonderful array of pieces from across human time. Lovely Art in the galleries. Great shop. Tasty food in the comfortable cafe. And amazing that such a fantastic place is free. What more can you ask for?!
Amazing free museum in Cambridge. A beautiful building in its own right. Where else can you see Monet paintings up close and completely free? Not many places that's for sure. Brilliant.
One of the best museums I've ever been to. Great collection (especially medieval) + it's free! Definitely talk to the museum people, most of them are very very intelligent and hold degrees in art.
Awe inspiring stuff. Just visited samplers exhibition (my wife's thing), armoury and Cyprus. Spent 4 hours and learned loads. Impressive displays..Nice coffee shop to boot
Huge museum with many varied collections covering thousands of years of world history. The descriptions of each object were interesting and it was clear that great care had gone into each room. Free entry and even the temporary exhibitions we visited were free. The no backpack policy is strictly enforced but a ticket is provided so you can collect it quickly at the end. I could have spent hours inside even though some of the upstairs galleries were closed at the time of our visit. I particularly enjoyed the Japanese pottery.
This free to enter but graciously accepts donations museum is best visited when you have half a day. It is vast and offers huge insight to artefacts from around the globe and through the ages. It is quite marvellous. The building itself is stunning to see both inside and outside. Plenty of staff on hand to guide or provide help and some areas you can take photos others you can not. The cafe is popular but offers a welcome sit down and a brew before you continue your exploration of world history in its numerous forms.
It is FREE! Hugs variety of quality art Brits have obtained through taking over the world (or trying) in the past. I was there during boring exhibition of big vases. It was nothing special so I don't get why there are posters everywhere. Otherwise big place with plenty of things to see, definitely recommend!
Fantastic museum, plan to visit again as so many interesting things to see that we could not fit in in one day. Good to see children on school visits enjoying the armory exibit. Places to sit in each area to enjoy and just look. Has a light open cafe area for drinks and food the shop had a lovely selection of items at reasonable prices. As good as any London museum I have visited.
Amazing museum and art gallery - always has a great touring exhibition (British studio ceramics when we went) but also has a superb permanent collection of art through the ages. Cafe and shop also good. Been there lots, always great.
This museum is top class. Superb, curated collections of art and artefacts from different historical eras and cultures tastefully exhibited. Particularly liked their stunning collection of Asian and European ceramics and the Dutch and Renaissance art galleries. Friendly, really helpful museum staff. The added bonuses are free entry and permission to take photographs of most exhibits.
Visiting from Australia, my cousin told us that we just had to see the Fitzwilliam Museum. To be honest, I was a bit museumed-out (if you know what I mean). However I really did enjoy it. The collection was extensive, of high quality and displayed in a professional manner. I also enjoyed the art collection. If you are a museum-buff, then definitely worth the visit.
