World of Birds Wildlife Sanctuary and Monkey Park (often shortened to World of Birds) is an avian, reptilian and wildlife sanctuary in Hout Bay, a suburb of Cape Town in South Africa. As suggested by its name, the focus is primarily on birds and monkeys. It is the largest African bird park and among the bird parks in the world with the higher number of species.
Of the approximately 400 animal species, about 330 are birds; the third-highest bird diversity of any zoo that primarily focuses on this animal group (only Weltvogelpark Walsrode, Birds of Eden, Kuala Lumpur Bird Park and Jurong Bird Park). The vast majority of the birds in the park are exhibited in walk-through aviaries. In total there are more than 100 aviaries.

Amazing day out! The birds of prey is Amazing, however my personal favourite would be the owl sanctuary. There is enough shaded sitting area to really kick back relax and have a bite to eat. In between your rounds of the sanctuaries and then have another drink after wards again. You also do not need to worry about you car, as the parking area has a warden. So this means you can really sit back and enjoy your time!

LOVELY outdoor area with STUNNING multitudes of birds! Not limited though as there is a monkey forest too. It is quite an extensive area, so you can walk around for hours. There is also a restaurant, or you can take in your own picnic lunches. Outside tables & seating are provided. We had a birthday party there & it was AWESOME!

The biggest bird park in Africa. I felt as excited as a fat kid in a candy store. Unbelievable place! I had the opportunity to see a black eagle for the first time. Here's what you can expect: Birds of prey, Storks, Bald Ibis, Ground Hornbill, Cranes, Parrots, Flamingos, Vultures, Monkeys and so much more. Oh, I forgot to mention, they have penguins as well. Enjoy

Take the family for a lovely stroll through the many enclosures filled with a wide variety of colourful, sometimes loud friendly birds including parrots, peacocks, emus, owls and everything in between. Then have a wonderful time having little monkeys climb all over you, if you follow their strict rules. Grab a drink and a bite to eat at the modest cafe.

Love the world of birds make sure you get there before 3.30pm as that's when they close the 🐒 enclosure which is my favourite place where you can let the little monkey's climb on you. Great place to spend a few hours and get to know feathered and 🐒 friend's amazingly clean cages all around.

Children will love this place. That said my mother also lived it. There are birds, reptiles, and mammals in a lovely setting. My favourite birds were the colourful parrots and parakeets. There is an onsite cafe and WCs but it may be challenging to get around in a wheelchair. The large tropical gardens are located near the seaside town of Hout Bay.

Great experience. Especially for kids. Lots to see and learn. Need to cultivate sense of conservation and protection of bird and other wildlife.

Awesome that ony rescue animals. Owl experience cool and monkeys cute. Unsure about snapping turtle all we saw was a green pond. Great way to support and do you bit for rescue charities. Pity honey badger cannot be rehabilitated. Keep up the good work world of birds.

I had a lot of questions and there were no guide or staff around to ask. Is this a kiddie zoo, a sanctuary or both? Children are allowed to run noisy and wild through endangered bird pen, nobody to ask about plight of individual animals. Which are injured and will be released, which are there for life and why, and are some being bred and why? These seem like reasonable and critical questions and I had expected more info as many animals did not seem happy. The only explanation on an individual animal was a badly written and confusing notice outside the distressed honey badger pen. I have no doubt World of Birds do good work in rehabilitating animals, but visiting here was not educational in any way and felt more like a zoo than a sanctuary. I could be jumping to assumptions but since there was not a single person available on a busy Saturday to explain things to me then this is all I have.

Cool experience for the kids and adults alike..especially the monkey interactions. The facility needs a little tlc..but budget is tight so understandable. They do great work and are a definite sight seeing must.

Went there with my 3 year old boy. Just around the corner in Hout Bay a great place to spend your time. I think I had more fun than my son. Got up close and personal with alot of animals. Birds, turtles, monkeys... it was just an awesome experience. Because this is a tranquil area, take some warm clothes and also, it can get muddy so I would recommend some shoes that can get dirty

What a unique an amazing place to enjoy with the family. Really cool design and experience. I'm sad to hear that they are struggling to survive. Hope someone manages to save the place.

So sad to learn it's closing down. Has been a treasure since my childhood and a sanctuary for so many a bird and animal. Heartfelt wish that it would receive the support it deserves from our country.

Very fun and has amazing birds and the little monkeys are super fun. Had so much fun there. Only off-putting point is there is bird poop everywhere (obviously ) but people slip on it and could really get hurt
