The Old Library (Welsh: Yr Hen Lyfrgell) is a Grade II* listed building in Cardiff, Wales. It is located in the centre of the city at the northern end of The Hayes. Originally the Cardiff Free Library, it was used as the city's Central Library until it was replaced in 1988. It has been used for other purposes since that time and is currently the home of the Cardiff Story museum and Menter Caerdydd, a community-based Menter Iaith organisation which works to raise the profile of the Welsh language in Cardiff.
The building is noted for its colonnaded exterior and original tiled entrance corridor.
Love this building. It reminds me of times I haven't seen in this time.

Huge favourite with primary age kids, especially good place to spend time in if you're in Cardiff centre with children at the weekend, also check out Llaeth & Siege on the to floor of the same building. A real Cardiff gem.

A simple museum with some interesting items, though overall a little staid. OK for an hour or so on a rainy day.

Fantastic FREE museum documenting the growth of the city and its people. Free audio guide and very child-friendly. Make sure you take a look at the beautiful tiled corridor before you leave. The only downside was that several of the interactive displays were out of order. However, that's all the more reason to visit and support with a donation. Overall a great selection of objects, creatively presented.

Doll's Houses are super cute 💓 lotz of history of Tiger's Bay people packed in ornamental interiors of Old Cardiff's Library. Good spot to get some unique souvenir from Wales in Museum Shop. Perfect location, just in the heart of the City
