Bowthorpe Oak in Manthorpe near Bourne, Lincolnshire, England is perhaps England's oldest oak tree with an estimated age of over 1,000 years. The tree has a circumference of 12.30 metres (40Â feet 4Â inches).
The Bowthorpe Oak can be found on Bowthorpe Park Farm and visitors are welcome throughout the year. The hollow interior had been fitted with seats and has apparently been used as a dining room for 20 people in the past. It was selected as one of 50 Great British Trees selected by The Tree Council in 2002 to spotlight trees in Great Britain in honour of the Queen's Golden Jubilee. The Bowthorpe Oak is featured in The Guinness Book of Records and was filmed for a short TV documentary about its size. It also appeared in the documentary Oak Tree: Nature's Greatest Survivor, hosted by George McGavin about the life of oak trees. It was a filming location for the film Hollow (2011), directed by Michael Axelgaard.

What an amazing experience. We got to have long cuddles with the 10day old lambs, meet Hamish the Shetland pony and brush his beautifully soft hair then we got to feed the lambs a bottle.....which he gulped down is seconds! Very wet and muddy so don't forget your wellies ;) The oak is a beautiful site and such a magnificent tree. My 2 year and 4 year old have had a wonderful time here. Hopefully next year it will be warmer ;)

Really enjoyed our visit- it is simply nice to see such a huge, old tree with a long history. That is all there is to it! It is nice to see that a small, family concern has made the effort to upkeep and allow access to the public. This makes the reasonable entry charge worthwhile. We met one of the sons in the lambing shed- he was extremely friendly and informative about the farm and how it is run. Also we were lucky enough to hold some tiny, newborn lambs!

Visited today with my 2 year old son and nieces and nephews ageing from 5-10yrs old. Not only do you get to see the tree whitch in its self is a magnificent sight and a magical piece of history but there is some of the farm animals for the children to see, a sandpit and toy tractors to play on, we where also told there is more to come when they close for the winter season! Refreshments are also available at very reasonable prices, teas and coffees £1 ice creams £1.50! Perfect spot to take a picnic and enjoy the great outdoors!

Charging you to see a tree, unbelievable!!! £4.50 per adult and £3.50 per child.... Biggest rip off in 1000 years of it's history!
