A beautiful place to visit when you're in The Lakes. Historical stone circle from 4500 years ago, with mountains all around as far as the eye can see. A peaceful place to stretch your legs before the long journey home, as was my case. It was snowing when we last came here, magical. Not far from the town of Keswick.

This has to be one of my favourite of the Stone circles in Cumbria. It's popular and a tourist attraction for very good reason! The circle is surrounded by some of the Lake Districts most powerful and beautiful hills. Sunsets are a magical experience here! Highly recommend!

Beautiful, prehistoric stone circle about 10 minutes drive from Keswick. Superb views of surrounding fells. Free to enter, field gets muddy, so wear decent shoes. No facilities here, such as toilets (apart from the regular ice cream van). Thoroughly recommended.

Nice easy walk from Keswick town partly along the old railway line. Slightly uphill in parts. You could drive to the spot also. Lovely view out from the stone circle even on a miserable day. Worth a visit!

Great in summer or winter. Not to much if a tell from the village to get here. Great to incorporate into a circular walk out and into Keswick

We called here while hiking into Keswick. Worth a visit if you are in the area. Not much to say really... It's a stone circle. There was an ice-cream van parked just on the road :) Some amazing views around here.

This place is worth a visit. Unfortunately we visited on a windy & rainy day, but we still managed to see the stone circle and take some photos. This would be much nicer in the sun. Early morning or at sunset would make for spectacular photos. I would plan to spend about 15 minutes to 30 minutes here unless you were to have a picnic.

Short walk from Keswick that’s not to strenuous. Once there the stone circle is located in a secure field so children and dogs can play safely. The views of surround hills and mountains make this a beautiful spot for a picnic lunch. Recommended.

Fairly easy walk for everyone. Best time to see would be early hours of the morning as it can get busy. Come for the stone circle but stay for the breathtaking mountain views that surround it.

Such a peaceful soulful place, best visited early or later on in the day as it can get VERY busy. Easy walk and free parking. Ice cream van in the lane isn't too shabby either.

Stunning views around the circle itself, it sits reasonably high up, but is surrounded by much higher fells, leading to a spectacular natural amphitheatre. It's worth arriving toward sunset ( and probably sunrise) to get the best effect of the hills processing out into the distance. Whoever build this certainly knew the landscape. You get there via a country road coming out of Keswick. Site entrance is free, and you park on the side of the road, so it is one of the few places you aren't fleeced for either of these things. The site is tidy, the panels are interesting, but the ones not cast from bronze are getting tatty. One of my favourite places to enjoy the scenery in the Lakes.

Great views and quite inspiring being there. You can see all around and can see why they built the stones there. It's well kept considering you can touch the stones. Information boards could use some work, they're pretty damaged and information is missing. Nice walk from Keswick town centre.

Castlerigg Stone Circle is a beautiful example of our pretty ancient history... dating back around 3-4000 years... you can really chill out here with so many big hills in every direction... all noted in bronze on the information boards. The only negative is that the condition of the non-bronze information boards is a little on the paggered side! A little bit of upkeep is required... but have no doubt if you're in the area spare a good 30-60 minutes to come here! We did a 6-7 mile circular walk from Keswick that stopped here half way... perfect!

Nice example of a stone circle. It's not Stonehenge but has a way better backdrop with beautiful views south to the Lake District so worth a stop off. Some roadside parking nearby, free to access. Some information boards at the entrance, unfortunately one vandalised. Who does that??

Beautiful 360 degree landscape. Unbelievably, this is remarkable Stone arrangement dates back as old as 4500 years. Believed to be built by farming community. There are close to 15 to 20 such stone circle arrangements spread across UK.

Great views and great photo opportunity. It's National Trust and very well kept. The sit is a large open field with small to medium sized stones set in a circle formation. You may meet a group of people performing music using old style instruments giving you a feeling of ancient times! You won't need much time at this site. Its worth a visit. It's also apparently a perfect place for star gazing as there is no light pollution there!

Well sign posted, would be a great place to visit when there's no one else around. The scenery is beautiful and could sit and relax for as long as you want. Enough parking alongside of the road. Maybe more info on it would be good

Very interesting and yet lovely little circle set in the lovely lake District. Went up here in mid winter, I was gob smacked, such a lovely lovely and peaceful place. Well recommended. (NEED TO WRAP UP WARM UP HERE, ESPECIALLY LATER ON IN THE YEAR)
