The Pittville Pump Room was the last and largest of the spa buildings to be built in Cheltenham.
The benefits of Cheltenham's mineral waters had been recognised since 1716, but not until after the arrival of Henry Skillicorne in 1738 did serious exploitation of their potential as an attraction begin. After the visit to Cheltenham in 1788 of King George III, the town became increasingly fashionable, and wells were opened up at several points round the town. Pittville, the vision of Joseph Pitt, was a planned 'new town' development of the 1820s, in which the centre-piece was (and remains) a pump-room where the waters of one of the more northerly wells could be taken.

Lovely walk around the boating lake. A little slippery underfoot in the thawing snow. The big children and the little children enjoyed sledging down the bank and the dogs enjoyed chasing balls and each other. We were a little late for the Cafe, so missed out on a hot chocolate.

Pittvile Park is a great place to visit and spend some pleasure time with family and kids. All family will find something interesting here: young kids (play area), teenagers (skate park), adults (coffee, ice-creams and biscuits :-P) A little bit of joy for everyone. Highly recommend. PS. If are a single, runner or fitness geek you have plant opportunities for that as well.

Took the grandkids today well they absolutely loved it, loads of climbing frames, swings, etc, the council had only put it up last year so it was newish, nice little cafe there so it was easy to get coffee tea soft drinks ice-cream sweets etc, so a good experience for all of us, will go again definitely

Great park for all ages. Can get very busy but weekdays are usually ok. There are toilets and cafe but not used either so no idea of quality.

Beautiful park with a lake. Lots of wonderful birds. The swans are there all the time. Good for doggie walks. Good cafe.

I've grown up in the area but no matter how far I travel I always feel at home with the park. It's changed a lot over the years but some of the old characteristics hasn't changed. The pump rooms always worth another look, the lake for a casual stroll, central cafe could meet any needs for soft drinks snack foods and ice cream. There's also the boating lake just a short walk away through the underground tunnel which also has a snack area like soft drinks and ice cream, also nice for a casual walk around.

Lovely park with a large, stream fed pond. There's a large children's play area, an aviary, fish ducks and swans. A short walk through the tunnel takes you to a wonderful lake where you can hire a rowing boat, go fishing or simply enjoy a walk around to the waterfall. There's even a pitch and putt golf course. A small cafe serves drinks and ice cream.

A very lovely place were children can play and adults can relax. However, it can be very busy on sunny days. I keeps everyone busy and is lovely to have a stroll around! I would extremely recommend it to people with children who are bored and need a bit of exercise

A great little walk for everyone over the bridges and around the pond. Buzzing with activity on a sunny day. A nice diversion if you're in Cheltenham centre. Just walk out of the Regents Arcade and keep going in a straight line along the street opposite.

A great place all year round. Three cafes and a good play area for the kids. Lots of open spaces to play with balls and kites etc. Paths with marked running routea too.

A great place to spend an afternoon. There are so many things you can do there and there's a fantastic play area for the children. I love to walk the dogs around the lake, watch the swans and ducks and listen to the water - very tranquil.

Great place for a walk....to let the kids run off steam...or just to relax and enjoy the atmosphere and sun (When it shows it face)

A favourite haunt of my childhood, and still a regular visitor. Good for children to scoot and ride their bikes, excellent play areas too. Extremely busy at weekends and during school holidays, lots of 30-something mum and dad posing going on......
