Really huge ground to cover and nice time to have with family. To be honest strangely not many animals were out. Only saw 1 lion, could be because of warm weather though. Boat ride is nice and peaceful and takes you through tiger sanctuary but again didn't see any. Take food with you and cool box and nice surroundings to have family picnic
Brilliant for people of all ages! Food and drinks are all reasonable price not extortionate like most places similar to this. Monorail to get around for those with walking difficulties. Animals looked really healthy and the enclosures are really well thought out and looked after! Well worth the money will definitely visit again 😁
Fantastic place. The best zoo in the UK. I have to say that the staff are all fantastic and extremely helpful. This goes for both paid and volunteer team members. Everyone plays a very valuable role. The animals all seem very happy and healthy and it's a privilege to see them up so close. Wonderful day out and we will back for a third visit again soon.
As far as zoos go, we're lucky to have such a great one here. The animals are well looked after, and they have plenty of space to roam and be happy. Some zoos have that business feel; here, you can tell they genuinely care about their jobs and the animals. The park is always clean, and the staff friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend a visit to anybody visiting nearby. There's a reason it's considered world leading! A brilliant day out for any age.
Great day out with the family. The Zoo has a great layout and is very nice to walk around. There are so many animals you can easily spend all day here looking around. The only downside I found was the price of food and drinks. While understand they need to make money and was OK with the fish & chip and burger prices, to charge 7.95 for a single slice of pizza is a little much! On the plus side they sell Cheshire Ice Cream Farm ice cream and this is very reasonably priced and delicious! Totally recommend a day out here, but advise to taking a picnic and some money for ice cream :-)
An amazing day out for the family, or even a whole weekend as there is so much to do you can’t see and do it all in a day. A very modern zoo with fantastic new zones and great food particularly in the islands area. For families I would strongly recommend paying for a family season ticket, works out great value if you plan more than 4 visits a year and 10% discount in all shops and food outlets. Visiting in the different seasons is well worth it as you can see animals change their appearance over the year.
Our family have been members for 2 years. It works out a lot cheaper than paying for each visit, and also gives you discounts off food and drink. Staff are great, food could be better. They are reinvesting a lot, and you can tell. They have also built a load of new play areas for kids, they are all outdoor, and top notch. Only deducted one star because of the main food court near the penguins, my family prefer a picnic to the food there, and it's just something that needs improvement. Food court at the Islands is 5 Star, really good food, you can tell it's the new food court
Lots of walking! But this is great because it means each animal has plenty of space to run around. All the animals looked happy and well and we had a lovely day. The park is also well kept, clear paths everywhere and everything is accessible to all. The kids play areas alone were brilliant. Thinking of signing up for membership after today!
We had an amazing day at Chester zoo during the May half term holidays. We were able to view the less than 2 week old baby elephant numerous times during our visit. We found the staff were friendly, welcoming and approachable. There are lots of toilets, snack bars and play areas dotted around the zoo. We had a delicious hot cooked meal in the restaurant near the main entrance to the zoo. Everything got eaten which demonstrates the super quality of the food that was cooked. We will definitely be going back!
Best Zoo in the world! A great range of animals, all of which are very well looked after. A few of the species they have are down to only a few hundred left so the conservation work they do is vitally important. All of the staff are very knowledgeable and are keen to answer any questions you have. The grounds are very well maintained and comparable to a lot of National Trust gardens where you'd still pay around £20 to get in but you get all the animals as well. There is constantly stuff going on that keeps you coming back. I've been around 6 times over the past year and I've seen something new every time. I'm very excited for the current developments they have going on, especially the pub! My only issue is that I wish they would update the stock available in the shops a bit more often as I seem to own practically everything they sell!
This so is absolutely massive! I'd recommend that if you make the journey here that you save an entire day for it and be prepared for a lot of walking around. All the animals here are very apparently well looked after and educational material is all over the place. There's good and drink available within the park (at a somewhat inflated price, of course) and just about every other thing you could need whilst you're there. A personal favourite are the huge aviaries where birds are able to freely fly around you as you observe them. There's even an open butterfly house. Truly wonderful! Highly recommended!
Amazing zoo! Lovely addition of cultural surroundings over recent years and a heavy emphasis on conservation, as you would want to see. We've been going for years and have family membership, so the capacity to visit for an afternoon is great as there is simply too much to see in a day. The kids love the recently renovated play areas, and of course the trust monorail. It is pricey to get a day ticket for entry and the monorail isn't cheap either, but when you see how the zoo has developed and the extent of their conservation work, it makes the entry fee seem more justifiable.
What a wonderful zoo. Far bigger than we expected. We didn't quite manage to see it all in a day. The chimps and all other monkeys were a particular highlight. Too many other animals to mention. We visited as a family of 5, the youngest being 7, be prepared to walk a lot if you're going to attempt to see it all. One small downside, more sign posts needed inside the park as it was difficult to navigate with the map provided. Once you exited each section you were disorientated. Other than that it was definitely worth the 200 mile trip.
Wonderful place for all the family. Such a diverse range of animals, birds, reptiles and other creatures. Staff are always so helpful and willing to take the time to explain stuff and answer questions. I would highly recommend visiting Chester Zoo. I have heard people comment that the on site eateries are a little expensive- but they are a Charity so need to make enough money to run the place, just take a picnic if you like! Well worth it either way.
A fantastic day trip. Huge selection of animals. Excellent information boards so you can learn lots. Great viewing areas. There seems to be continuous building works / renovation, but I see that as a positive sign. It does mean you can't always see the animals you want to. I'm not 100% convinced by the new islands section. A bit too much like an attempt at an amusement park rather than an educational / conservation experience.
Truly amazing. I loved every second of my visit here. All the animals look very well looked after and the zoo keepers all appear very passionate about their job and their duties towards these animals. The complex is clean and tidy and it has all the necessary services and facilities you would expect it to have. It's the perfect day out for both adults and kids! I'd highly recommend going if you haven't already done so!!
Always park easily. The rentable kids buggies are great. Been twice in recent times and not seen the tigers, it's a trade-off between given them a good enclosure which means they can hide and them being visible. I prefer them to have a good enclosure and the zoo seem to be going to effort to make that so. But there's loads to see and loads to do. The kids sand and water parks are great in the summer.
Amazing place- so much to see. You need several hours to do it properly, maybe more if the weather is nice and more of the animals venture into their outside enclosures. We were there for 5 hours and probably could have filled another two. Food and drinks are a bit expensive and queues quite slow so take your own picnic. Animal talks are good- keepers very knowledgeable and friendly and happy to answer questions. Will definitely be going again in better weather.
A lot of walking involved but great disabled access and hire of wheelchair facilities. Clean and tidy zoo and animals look amazing in health. Well looked after and can get closer to the animals in real life...amazing experiences. Loved the handmade gifts available around the zoo. Great keepsakes for memories!
Brilliant zoo, very nice clean lots of great animals with great enclosures for both the animals and viewing. The concessions are a bit pricey but in all fairness it's what you expect. Plenty of picnic areas so you can take your own food. Good parking. Staff are polite and happy to engage with guests really enjoyed it here.
This is a really great place to go for a day out. One of the main reasons we like it is because it feels like they have a plan. Every time we go there's something new. We've recently seen the opening of Islands, with a new indoor tropical area and new outdoor food court serving delicious street style food. (There's still an indoor food hall with burgers and pizzas if that's more your thing) This has given a renewed reason to head over to that side of the zoo again, which I had neglected on previous visits. Recently they have started updating the Penguin enclosure, along with other sections of the zoo. Its really exciting! All the usual famous animals like lions and chimpanzees but a great selection of rarer species including a lot of reptiles and inverts. The butterfly house is particularly awesome and my little one loves the aquarium. The zoo is well laid out with lots of places to eat or grab a snack, as well as plenty of toilets and a large gift shop. The Staff are really great and always happy to chat, and it's fun keeping an eye out for some of the guys you might have seen on the TV show. Two weeks ago we purchased an annual membership, we go that often it makes sense for us as a family. Definitely recommended.
