Beautiful, peaceful, and away from touristy area. I stumbled into the temple where a group of young students were learning from the monk in proper hand and praying gestures. I couldn't follow of course because she spoke Thai. However I felt at peace and very welcomed even though I was not part of the class. It's a beautiful temple with a snack shop at the front and someone was painting the elephants!

A peaceful, beautiful ancient temple. There is a small, inexpensive (150 baht for 1 hour of foot massage, and the one with the hot herbal ball thing is only 250 baht) massage place right at the back of the pagoda inside the temple. The staff there are seniors and thry are very friendly. The woman who gave me the massage was chuckling, smiling the whole time; she gave me a lot of positive energy. Even though it was not the best massage I have received, the lady really put her effort into it and I had a relaxing time with her while looking at the ancient pagoda. Please go and support them, they would really appreciated your business. (And please tip!)

A beautiful Buddhist shrine just outside the northern moat, accessible through a wooden bridge. It has a modern Pagoda with a large Buddha and a large ancient brick temple at the back. Not to be missed.

One of my faves in the whole Thailand. Really liked it it, took some really cute pics from the entrance playing with the elephant. The visit is quite quick tho, besides they were repairing some of the stuff

One of a beautiful Lanna Style temple in Chiangmai but it is strange that there are some Hindu God in this Buddhist temple too.

Built in the 14th century, Wat Lokmolee became more important with the construction of the chedi in the back in 1527 - it is one of the tallest in the city, It contains the ashes of the last Mengrai Dynasty kings. Wat Lok Molu was fully restored early this century, with unique features that distinguish it from others in CM. Entering the temple You will see a pavilion honoring Queen Chiraprapha, who reigned in 1545-46 and was Lanna’s first queen. During her reign the Kingdom of Ayutthaya attacked twice and she lost the first time but defeated the repeat invasion in the following year. Past this shrine is a statue of Phra Tha Phrom, the four-headed Thai equivalent of the Hindu Creator God Brahma. Next to it is one of a multi-armed bodhisattva Mae Guan Im, the Mahayana Buddhist godness of compassion and forgiveness. Recommend!

Went here with my partner - now we do like our history and architecture, but this 1300's (ish) temple has fantastic detailing. It's well kept and maintained and despite being next to the main road, you still feel at peace inside the main temple area - some of Thailand's temple restrict where women can go, this one does not. No entry fee, open 24 hours.
