Wonderful place to recharge your batteries. Thank you to all the staff who were amazingly helpful. I was on crutches and they had a powered mobility scooter available so that I could still visit the gardens with my family. Everything was accessible and we had a thoroughly great day out. Very much a must see on a visit to Christchurch. Yummy food in the Cafe!!

Lovely to stroll around the gardens. Lovely trees, plants and shrubs and beautiful fountain. There's a pool for little ones and drinks and ice cream shop. Great indoor walk round greenhouse. Dedicated garden for rose varieties and NZ native species. Nice place for a family picnic, with a play area for the little ones. Ample, easily accessible parking.

The Caterpillar tour is a fun and great way to explore the gardens. The tour guide drives around the gardens and the tour covers most of the major part of the garden. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and helpful. The garden is huge and has all sort of flower and trees. There are one or two stops along the tour. One of the stops is at rose garden and rainforest house. The rose garden is lovely. Overall, it is a lovely tour to see the key area of the Christchurch botanic gardens.

Recommend caterpillar tour. In center of town, great bus and tram access. Level paths. Large variety of plants and trees. Green house well worth looking at. Great Cafe and lawn area.

While there may be fewer flowers than the gardens in Dunedin or Wellington, the area is excellently manicured and well maintained. It is always a joy to come here and go for a stroll. Be aware that parking in the main parking lot can be difficult on public holidays or weekends.

Every visitor to Christchurch must find at least one half day to visit these gardens and Hagley Park. The gardens are welcoming with plenty of information discretely placed to explain what you are looking at an why it is there. A spacious visitor centre and indoor/outdoor cafeteria is always popular as is the incorporated gift shop. Artwork is scattered throughout, some quirky, all interesting. Walking tracks abound. The Avon river winds through the garden, waterfowl and punts find it to be a great place. There are car parks and buses stop adjacent. A beautiful spot.

I absolutely love the botanical gardens. It's great all year round with a fantastic variety of gardens. Love that you can always find a quiet space. The carnivorous plant section is one of my favorites. Free parking is a bonus as it makes it easier to go with a toddler. My only draw back is that the playground is so dated and falling apart.

One of the most beautiful gardens I have ever seen. Love all different the trees. The garden is not one with "thousand" plants next to each other, so that you can't see the single one. It has a nice picnic area in the middle and lots of playing areas for the kids.

Such a lovely spot to spend the day! The gardens are beautiful and well maintained with canals running through them. Definitely worth a stop.

The rain did nothing to take away the gorgeousness of this park. Do not miss. Beautiful, peaceful. There's a cafe, public toilets, bridge over the Avon River, conservatories, heaps of photo opportunities and of course beautiful flowers, trees and bushes. Also a playground apparently but did not see that as not with children. Museum right next door too.
