Good old fashioned seaside fun. Lots of attractions on the pier as well as lots to eat and drink. Walk to the end of the pier for great views of the sea and look back at the town. The floor boards on the pier have gaps so I wouldn't walk to the end in high heals. Fun for kids and grownups
Great to see they have improved the place. However lost stars as we payed for our 2yr old to have a wrist band for the toddler rides but he was only able to ride on 2 attractions of the 5 permitted due height restrictions. One ride required him to ride alone but this was unsuitable. Otherwise a good family day out.
Great place for both big children and adults! The days we were there the waves was really big and lots of fun! My 10 and 11 years old kids (AND me!) had great fun for hours! The fifth star is missing because of sandy water which made it look dirty. Also the pir had attractions that made the day very fun and delight.
Good place to bring the kids. Rides for all ages, though not that many. If you are there for the day better getting a wristband for around £15 rather then paying £2/£3 a ride. There are a couple or bars bowling alley of sorts restaurants, mostly things with chips etc. Sea food stall outside. As of this post date they are preforming renovations to a large inside covered part of the pier, the arcades are still open and all the ride outside fine
Clacton Pier is a great place to visit with all the family. The long stretch of sand gives plenty of places to sit and relax and the sea is active, so there are plenty of chances to go for a swim. There are also many restaurants nearby, serving a variety of cuisines. The pier is within walking distance of the busy shopping district. Best of all, Clacton Pier has an amusement park that can be entered for free. Rides are affordable and lots of fun.
Low level entertainment. Lots of gambling. Bygondays atmosphere. Very noisy carnival attractions. Maybe kids like it... We did not. The beach is nice and simple swimming is dangerous due to the tide and piers.
Great deals on wristbands and bowling discount on wristbands if u book em early. Great selection of rides for older and younger people. Nice food all round great day out
This is a must see location. Good food Good rides Huge arcades Loads of fun Good live music New beach all around Undergoing upgrades to make it much much better than before This place is on the up and I can't wait to see what comes of it as it gets a facelift to be in 2018. I would recommend this in the summer holidays but due to the wide range if things to do... This place is good for a day out all year round.
As someone who has been visiting Clacton pier since the 70's I've seen a lot of changes not all good. What I like about the pier now is the way they have installed New rides in a similar position to those that used to be there. Even the sign at the front of the pier is in a 1920's style font which looks nice. The only thing missing is a big bumpy slide that's they used to have in the 80s that was blown away on the great wind of 87.However, the pier now is probably the best it has ever been. Please bring back the slide to get the full five stars.
This couldn't be more English seaside if it tried! On a sunny day the pier is full and there is lots to do, be it the aquarium (currently under repair), 10 pin bowling, loads of arcades, helter skelter, fun fair which is aimed at under 10s in most parts, classic fun fayre games (fish for a duck where if you win a goldfish, yes they still do that)! Every turn is a winner so still isn't required, you just need to be prepared to pay. With kids, it's a lovely fun place to be. Without them, I think you'd wonder why you're here.
Great place for young children, but if you do go with kids make sure your pocket change is plenty it's easy to spend so much without realising. Good fish and chips as well! Nice fireworks display when it happens.
If you like the traditional English seaside then you will love this place. It pretty much has everything you have become accustomed to. Please be aware that if the weather is good, the beach will be packed
We spent time about 1 miles away from Clacton pier Holland bay. Free parking. Nice clean waters. Not very congested despite Bank holiday today. It's mix of pebbles and sand. Definitely recommended to folks in east and north London.
A lovely piece of history with some super fun attractions for families and children. Lots of affordable rides with a sensibly priced token card system which can be easily topped up at the pay machines. Some major refurbishment work going on at the moment so a few cement mixers around and plenty of scaffolding, but still worth a visit. Nice open boardwalk area at the end of the pier. Sad to see the de-commissioned RNLI station...
Currently undergoing some much needed renovation. The pier has lots of fun for the young family and anyone who enjoys the novelties of playing arcade machines and fair rides over water. I have found the staff a bit unfriendly and unhelpful. But overall an enjoyable experience.
Very nice place to visit at summer. So many games options for kids and for adults specially bowling game is available. Nice flower garden besides road.
Have been a few times to Clacton now and like the pier. It is good for little ones and the arcades are modern and clean. Have always been able to park a long the seafront so get 3 hours free which is enough time when you've got under 5s. Pier is currently being renovated so some was closed. Reduced prices for rides to compensate though.
Although it has a bit of a reputation of being a poor relative of Walton Pier (just up the coast) there has been extensive modernization recently, meaning that the covered areas of the pier are very impressive. There is a wide selection of rides, arcade games, bowling and places to eat, making Clacton Pier a great venue for an afternoon or evening's activities.
