Excellent place to visit... Loved the details provided in pictorial format on how chocolates are good and bad both.... Fountain was awesome... Unfortunately I visited just an hour before the closing time and hence couldn't witness the production. Kids will love this place. Restaurant within the museum complex was good as well. Overall highly recommended and must visit place when in Cologne...

Absolutely great day out with partner and little one! Great to see the massively hard work and great history behind the sweet that most of us enjoy every day CHOCOLATE!! Even shows how coco tribes used to build boats from chopping down giant trees and turning them in to floating crafts. Besides that you get to watch chocolate being made from start to finish and even get to sample it ☺. Plus you can make your own bar to your specification. 5 stars every time

Honestly, at first I wasn't super excited about this. My girlfriend wanted to go and I obliged as I like doing things she likes. But, I was very surprise. The museum has many ancient artifacts from the beginning of chocolates time with the Mayans. It was very interesting. Also, lots of info on today's chocolate production obviously. The best part, is they have a mini-chocolate bar processing plant/machine in action that you can watch. I found that to be the best part. They also have workers creating detailed chocolate pieces as well, which is pretty interesting to watch.

Really nice museum. It comprises good quality and quantity of information about chocolate- from the cocoa beans types and harvesring to the actual process of making chocolate. Its layout is such that it is fun for the kids all while being informative. The process of making chocolate is easy to understand as you can just follow the machines step by step. There is even a free chocolate dipped waffle tasting throughout the tour. There is a small section where you can see different tropical plants. Within the same building there is also a cafe with an assortment of cake. Though i did not get to try it, it looked very tasty and the view from the cafe is really nice.

Must see stop if you are in Koln (Cologne) Germany. All that you ever wanted to know AND TASTE in terms of chocolate, you can find here. A definite tourist trap but a good one at that. Your kids will enjoy it and so will your taste buds. The surrounding areas are also pretty to walk around and for sight seeing.

Update about the bistro which we visited in the weekend: awesome assortment of cake. Tried the chocolate torte and the mousse and both very delicious. The best hot chocolate I had so far. It is a little expensive but definitely worth it. The staff are all smiling and friendly. Had a nice experience.

We loved our visit here. You get to learn about where chocolate comes from, starting with the cocoa plant. There is an indoor tropical forest, and you can see how chocolate is made, in a little factory. There are good samples along the way, and interesting and interactive displays. They also have a place where you can have a chocolate bar custom made! Everything about this place was great.

What a lovely little gem. Only wished i brought my grandchildren with me they would have loved it. We got samples of chocolate as we were going around well worth the entrance fee and the cafe was amazing check out the pics.

Incredible museum. We were doubting about whether to go to a "touristic place" was a good idea, but it definitely was! We had so much fun, we were like kids learning about the history of chocolate, its ingredients and how it is made. Even though the museum closes at 6PM, some of the activities inside close by 5PM. If you don't want to miss anything, try go before that time! Also, they will give you free chocolate! Yummy

When I heard about it I thought it was going to be another money-making touristic attraction. I was very reluctant. It ended up being a very pleasant and joyful experience. The machines melting the chocolate the various information and the clever way of presenting it, the smells, the mini tropical forest, everything brought a little excitement. I will definitely take my friends to see it and have a coffee in the coffee shop with the friendly staff.

The history of Chocolate from Cocoa to the end product. The cool thing is they have small scale production of Lindt in house, and even you can have take a sample from the production. They also had chocolate fountain which you can taste with chocolate wafer. The museum its in medium size which required you 2-3 hours to finish the tour inside. You will receive small package of chocolate at the exit. Cool! ** I have childhood memory with a cocoa. My late grandfather used to plant it around his house in Malaysia. When its fruitful, he will give me and my other cousins to have it and collect back the bean. He will dry the bean under the sun then sell it out.

This was a lively place when we came through. Nice displays from growing plants to putting a piece of chocolate in your mouth. You can even design your own chocolate bar. The gift shop is a perfect place to pick up treats for those you left at home.

You really need to arrive 2 hours before closing time as they stop many of the best activities an hour before closing time. Other reviews suggest a free gift is given on leaving which wasn't the case for us. It is a very interesting museum and we enjoyed the very small free samples of chocolate provided

For chocolate lovers, this is paradise! Great experience and many interesting things about chocolates. There’s a long queue though especially in summer. There’s summer festival around the corner and it was jam packed but worth the trip! You will get crazy at the chocolate shop...a lot of selections of different chocolates and only chocolates! I would love to come back here again and again!

A must visit for all chocolate lovers in the world. It explains with the complete history of cocoa beans and its transition to our favourite chocolate. It explains how over the centuries it became a commoners food from a food reserved for the nobility. The mini chocolate factory explains the complete chocolate making process, the live demonstrations of using moulds and much more. You can also your personalised hand-made chocolate. I recommend that you spend at least a couple of hours for this tour. The staff is extremely helpful and cooperative. Explore the local mini bazaar outside the museum.

Quite informative and easy to follow self-guided tour. You can study the entire manufacturing process, right from sourcing the beans, transporting, and processing. Visitors can also design their own chocolate moulds, mix of flavour and see them being packaged. At the end of your visit, I would recommend to head up to the terrace outside the museum cafe, for a great view of the Rhine river. Overall, a nice experience!

Have been there years ago. When visiting again last week, my childhood memories have been destroyed. I had in memory that you can dip into the chocolate fountain by your own. ... But any ways I can totally recommend the museum to everyone one from child to grown up. From the rooftop you do also have a great view at the Rhine river.

Spent an awesome few hours here. Generally museums teach you less than a decently thick book on the same subject, but this one is insanely informative (so much history and real-world info, even about child labour...) AND includes a mini factory tour in itself, a "design your own chocolate bar" service, a greenhouse with real kakao and spice/fruit trees... and free chocolate. The chocolate cafe seems pricier but otherwise no different from other German cafes. The museum, though, is well worth the admission price.

This is a wonderful, fun and interesting chocolate museum! Inside there is a lot to learn and they set everything up, so that it is fun! For example there is a part where you go through a jungle of sorts! And let´s not forget to mention the chocolate fountain, where you can enjoy free heavenly chocolate! At the end there is a gift shop where you can purchase amazing chocolate! All in all I had an educational and fun time.

One of our favorite things we did while in Cologne. Everywhere you turned they were giving you more chocolate! The exhibits were interesting and taught us a lot about the process of making chocolate. The displays they had inside the museum section were very interesting and enjoyable to see. We also had lunch in the restaurant which was very good.
