Cobh ( KOHV, Irish: An Cóbh), known from 1849 until 1920 as Queenstown, is a seaport town on the south coast of County Cork, Ireland. With a population of around 13,000 inhabitants, Cobh is on the south side of Great Island in Cork Harbour and home to Ireland's only dedicated cruise terminal. Tourism in the area draws on the maritime and emigration legacy of the town.
Facing the town are Spike and Haulbowline islands. On a high point in the town stands St Colman's, the cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cloyne. It is one of the tallest buildings in Ireland, standing at 91.4 metres (300 ft).
I was first here about 20 years ago. It is a great spot for a tour of the history of a very important port that has been active for the last 1000 years or more. It covers historically recent events relating to the Titanic and the Lusitania. It has great coverage of the great Irish famine and the impacts it had on the people of left through Cobh both voluntarily and involuntarily. The centre offers a free audio tour with your entry fee. There is a cafe offering hot food and drinks and a nice gift shop.

Great little heritage centre. There is a coffee shop and souvenir shop. The heritage centre is small but well worth a visit. It would take about two hours to go around. It is good for kids. There are plenty of interactive exhibits and models. The centre goes through Cobhs rich maritime history. It covers everything from pirates, coffin ships, the famine, emigration to the Americas and Australia and Tasmania as well as obviously the town's connection to the Titanic.

I honestly don't know where to begin to explain this place and the staff. I'll be going back. Great history lesson. Great town.

An ok museum. Had lot of videos that explains Ireland's famine time and how people migrate to other countries. Worth to visit once. It also has great collection of shipping services at the time of titanic era. There is a cafe at the front for a quick bite. There are some artifacts that are collected from titanic displayed here. Very interesting.

Well worth a visit. Cobh itself is a lovely little town. Stopped here only for a day but glad we did!

Well worth a visit, especially for the fresh scones, baked daily and fresh from the oven at 10.30am. Oh yes, the heritage multimedia exhibition is also very good. Did I mention the scones? !

A sad and obviously interesting story well told in this museum. Within meters of the cruise liner dock and a couple of minutes walk to the town it is convenient to all visitors to Cobh. The adjoining restaurant is a pleasant and not exorbitant place to spend a half an hour or so. Well recommended.

The tragic maiden voyage of the "Unsinkable" Titanic never fails to capture the imagination of all ages. The Queenstown Story emerges visitors in the lives of the passengers in a way that's engaging for children and adults alike. I would highly recommend it to all ages.

Fabulous sea side town but No Beach here as a Shipping area for Massive Cruises from all over the world. One of the Biggest Natural Harbours in the world. So can accommodate the largest Cruise ships. Has a lovely walk up to the Cathedral fabulous Views. Boat trips to Spike Island a must see. Titanic walk to take with or without a Guide. Nice Friendly Bars with live Music in the evenings. Place for all ages.

Having just read a mystery/thriller that started with the sinking of the Lusitania, I was eager to visit the heritage center. Its well done, takes about an hour, and is aimed toward the moderately interested history buff. Enough info to educate the uninformed with a couple of clever "ticket" gimmicks that keep you reading most of the signs. Has a cute children's scavenger hunt to keep the young ones interested. 80% Titanic, 20% all other ships sailing from Cobh.

I honestly don't know where to begin to explain this place and the staff. I'll be going back. Great history lesson. Great town. You can follow the story of Irish emigrants as they came from all over Eire to Queenstown, and onward to their new and unknown destinations. This is also the last stop and final departure point for the ill-fated RMS Titanic. it's also the place where the survivors from the RMS Lusitania were brought ashore after the German U-boat sunk it in 1915, just off the coast near Queenstown. You can spend hours here in this old, original Victorian railway station converted to the Heritage Centre. There is seating outside the cafe's and gift shops as well as rest rooms. AND, they have there very own highly trained and experienced qualified Genealogist on-site. You can trace your ancestors there and then (for a fee). Well worth a visit, you won't be disappointed.

The Cobh Heritage Centre is a great stop for visitors to learn about the history of Cobh and the Cobh connection to well-known events and disasters. Cove, Queenstown, and then Cobh; you'll learn how each name came to be at the start of the self-guided tour. The immigration section is well-designed to mimic the feeling of traveling on a ship. Finally the history of the Titanic and Lusitania to wrap-up the tour. You'll learn plenty about Ireland here, so don't skip visiting the Cobh Heritage Centre.

A very in depth look at immigration. Very full museum which can be experienced at many different levels. One could spend hours and revisit often or get a general understanding with a single visit.
