Tilgate Park is a large recreational park situated south of Tilgate, South-East Crawley. It is the largest and most popular park in the area.
Originally a 2,185-acre (8.84Â km2) part of the ancient Worth Forest, the park and adjacent areas (including the modern-day Furnace Green, Three Bridges, part of Southgate and Tilgate Forest) were part of the larger Tilgate Estate.
One of my favourite places to go in Crawley when I was growing up and now I have a child of my own I love bringing him here too. There are good facilities and the nature centre is well worth the cost. A lovely day out

Tailgate park is a good place for families. There are nice paths around the park and the variety or the views and animals around is great. On wet days remember to bring the shoes to get off pavement and walk on a mud otherwise one can lose parts of the park. In the summer always full of people. Its spacious and accessible. Parking lot for motorbikes is free of charge.

A hidden treasure. So big and beautiful with lots to do. Every taste seemed catered for. An amazing place for young and old, with or without a dog. Simply wonderful. Will definitely go back time and time again.

The park and mini zoo animal enclosure inside was a lot of fun. We still have to go and have a walk around the lake..

Best £6 I've spent on a rainy day! (£3 adults, £2 children over 2 I think!) Great variety of animals and very informative!

Great place to go for getting Pokemon Go stops, gyms and catching Pokemon. Plus it's PACKED with Pokemon trainers when the Community Days roll around! Beautiful lake when the weather is nice (and even when it isn't) Fishing is encouraged, as well as a trip on the canoes. Otherwise it's a good place to walk around and get in touch with nature. The little 'zoo' they have there does charge for admission now, but it's a great place to take the kids (if you have any) or even just for yourself if you have a love for animals!

Lovely park. Lake to walk around. Go ape for kids. Animal centre to walk around. Coffee shop. Lots of space for a picnic. Some benches dotted around the park. There are toilets but usually a queue as there are only a few.

I visited this park on a nice (though overcast) day in the middle of April. I found it to be a very neglected and badly looked after park. The previous day I had been to Hyde Park in London city centre where everything was green, clean, lush and beautiful, so to arrive here at Tilgate Park the next day to see this, was just very sad. There were lots of signs and posters about animals that they didn't seem to have (at least I couldn't find them anywhere) and the actual plants and woodlands were just overgrown, neglected, and in a very bad state of repair. Well, you can see from the attached photos, what this park looks like. :-/ Would not visit again.

Don't bother going on a weekend during the Summer or a bank holiday as you won't get near the place. If you go during non-peak times it has some wonderful walks, lake with canoeing etc and an okay little nature reserve. It's a shame Crawley Borough Council now charge high parking prices and to get into the nature reserve... This place used to be funded by our council tax but due to its popularity, is now a cash cow for local authority.

Main park area and lake are good out door spaces, however when we visited the small animal area, it looked very tired and a lot of the pens were overgrown and appeared to be in need of attention. On a more positive note the newly built animal enclosures once finished should provide a more worthwhile experience.

We'll go in better weather next time but even in the rain it was a lot of fun. Loads of beautiful parks and gardens and a fab little farm which was exceptionally reasonably priced to get in (£3.50). There's loads for kids to do, a Go Ape and Ultimate Wipe Out zone in good weather. Only real negative is the car park is quite small (but there are a few of them dotted around the park? Definitely worth a visit.

Tilgate is an absolutely beautiful place! It literally works for any activity you can think of. I often run there which is really enjoyable and it can be as easy or as challenging as you want depending on the route. There are lots of dog walkers too, a large kid’s playground, Go Ape for kids and adults, a forest, a farm (which is more like a mini zoo really), a restaurant, a cafe, lakes... getting bored in Tilgate is simply impossible. My only criticism is that they allow the dogs off the lead in all areas, except immediately round the lake now. Considering there are large areas of forest away from the busy lake and playground, it’s really unnecessary. Not all kids like dogs and not all dogs like kids. My daughter had a dog take a sandwich clean off her hand when she was a toddler in Tilgate and she is now absolutely petrified of dogs, which means we can’t go to Tilgate anymore with her and that’s a shame.

A wonderful place to go and visit in Crawley and probably for me one of my favourite parks. There are so many different things to do and see here from the lake to the words to the Peace Gardens to the Walled Gardens where there are beautiful formal Gardens to walk around. And then have the small or now not so small nature centre which is improving and developing all the time.

This is a wonderful place with plenty to do, including swings and slides. The key attraction however is the animals. They have a wide variety of happy and healthy animals and with entry at £3.50, you can't go wrong. My 3 year old loves it here too.
